Salty fandom asks: 1, 5, 9, 14 (for any fandom), 23?
I'm a one fandom person so this is going to be about Oxventure. It also turned into such a rant, I'm so sorry but also that's probably the point of this ask game.
1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?
Barnaby/Lilith. Don't understand it at all. Why are you burdening a fantastic, devoted and intelligent woman with an absolute trainwreck? Lilith doesn't deserve this! Barnaby is such a fuckhead and truly does not get better throughout the series (he gets more capable, but is almost the exact same level of shitty at the end), and I think Lilith deserves better.
5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
[Looks sideways at demonpirate].
Okay, I do still like it, kind of, but it's just everywhere and I don't think it's interesting enough to justify that. There are so many options and I don't understand sticking to just one.
9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?
Recently? Dob. I don't like the guilt arc. Whenever it was featured it really ground the episode to a halt (Hunter Pressure and early Orbpocalypse being good examples of this) and it felt like such a clunky decision from Luke rather than naturalistic character development.
Also, the Katie arc was funny, but I cannot stand and have never enjoyed the Liliana nonsense. It wrecks any tension/suspense which, given that this is primarily a comedy, would be fine if it was funny, but I don't think it is. It's especially annoying when you combine with Dob's guilt arc, because he was just getting all uptight about murder before forgetting that and loving a full supervillain!
I think we're quick to make excuses for the show because it's "just a comedy" but a) lots of comedy becomes very heartfelt and complex (Dimension 20 anyone?), and b) they are clearly putting in more serious elements and we are allowed to critique those. I really like the show but I haven't been keeping up with the latest season after the start of episode 2, because Liliana showed up and it completely killed my interest.
The Oxventure is, and always has been, funny, but it used to have heart as well. I think there's less of that than there used to be.
14. Unpopular opinion about your fandom?
I don't think I have one, it's too small. Sometimes I feel like headcannons are a little stereotypical, but that's just fandom baby! It's not hurting anyone. Also put read-mores on long posts please. Or at least tag long post.
23. Unpopular character you love?
I don't think that there are unpopular Oxventure characters, I've seen pretty balanced spreads across the whole fandom. In terms of other stuff i.e. my beloved Monster Prom series, my favourite characters are Aaravi, Joy, then Valerie, which, from a cursory search, doesn't seem to be the most popular opinion.
#Uh oh Rian has opinions about the Oxventure#I've been watching this show since the very beginning okay I get to say that it's bad sometimes#Had to do a quick move to Monster Prom because I love it even if I have zero interest in the fandom#messing around with asks#oxventure watching#long post

The End of All Things; Solo
TIMING : About Ten years ago, A week or so before Graduation
LOCATION: The Halls of Wicked Rest High.
SUMMARY: Charlotte is annoyed that her girlfriend missed prom and is now sporting a hand wound. Lil, figures out quickly that this is the end.
CONTENT WARNINGS: It's a break up folks, it's sad. (None)
“I just feel like you aren’t listening to me, Lil!” Char said as Lil again tried to calm her down. In some ways, she got why her girlfriend was so upset. She hadn’t been to school in days, and when she came back, her hand was fucked up. She had told Char - maybe something about prom.
Oh yeah. She’d forgotten about prom. Fuck. Well, she guess she hadn’t forgotten about it.
She had been a little busy.
Rubbing her neck at the idea, she sighed a little and tried to say something that would make it better. Hey Babe, sorry I got tricked into a demon exorcist and ended up having a little bit of a mental breakdown. You know how it is? Hey, do you want to grab some smoothies? Will that make you feel better about my almost death?
So instead, she stood there silent, letting Char down again as she tried to get through again. “Lil, listen, it’s okay if you’re in something bad. I know you say you aren’t, but I can see - Lil, are you in a gang or something? Is that why you always get hurt? Please just let me in.”
She was reaching out again, her eyes tearfully looking at her to please trust her. Fuck she wasn’t even mad she’d forgotten. For a moment, Lil thought of it, of telling Char that she was an exorcist, that she had to be one. She thought about telling her of everything that was going on - maybe she could handle it.
Then, like something reminding her of the real world, her newly bandaged hand burned for a moment. Lil, if you don’t do anything, you’re going to end up killing us both - LIL STOP. WHAT ARE YOU DOING.
No. She couldn’t even handle it. The weight of everything on her was too much, and she couldn’t share it. She shouldn’t share it. Everyone around her in this hallway was a fucking kid - she was a kid. What was she supposed to tell Char? Monsters are real? Lil was an exorcist and very often saw the edge of death. That she had to make a decision quick on how she was going to escape this? She breathed in for a moment, and Char looked expectantly at her like she was finally going to let it go.
Instead, shaking her head, she turned to Char and said quietly, “No, it’s not anything like that. It’s not even that deep. Okay, Babe, please drop it.” Her hands shook a little, not wanting to deal with this, or she could feel the eyes on her again. Trying to pull Char in and give her a kiss on the forehead, she felt the other sigh and not let herself be moved.
“No. You aren’t doing this again, Lil. I forgive a lot of shitty things you’ve done because I love you, but you’re not going to run away from me again. Tell me what’s happening, or we have to end this.” Char’s eyes looked determined and demanding, and while Lil usually found that adorable, she knew now that it wasn’t going to end well.
For a moment, Char didn’t look like her girlfriend, but another person who wanted to demand Lil to do something. This time, it wasn’t something she could give. Lil kept giving things to people that she had to - she just didn’t have the ability to do more.
So, while Char looked hopeful that the ultimatum might work, Lil sighed and shook her head. Her hand stretched out to push some of her now ex’s brown curls behind her ear.
“Let’s break up then,” Lil said in a firm voice, unwilling to strip her soul bare in front of the other. She couldn’t. There was no way to ease another person into this life who didn’t already know it, and well, Charlotte couldn’t exactly consent to know about the horrors.
For a moment, Char was quiet, her eyes wide before she started to cry, and it took a lot for Lil not to pull her in. She knew it wouldn’t help, even if she wanted to badly. She wanted to tell Char that it wasn’t her fault, but she suspected the other already knew. Lil looked away as her eyes turned from sad to angry, letting the other yell at her. Tell her that she was horrible, that she’d led her on. Still, as selfish as it was, Lil didn’t look back at her, not wanting to see hate on her face.
She just let her ex yell, and after a little, she calmed down and just - “Lil, I just don’t understand it. Why do you just push people away? I wanted - fucking hell, Lil, I just wanted to be with you.”
“I’m sorry,” She said after a moment, finally looking back at Charlotte to see her look as lost as Lil felt. “I’m a bad girlfriend. Sorry.”
For a moment, Lil wanted to take it back again and let Char in. Pretend that there was a future where Lil wasn’t on the brink of horrors. She could go to college with her and maybe end up breaking up for something mundane and harmless. Hell, maybe they could have been high school sweethearts. There were millions of possibilities that Lil would never have. Either because her dad would send her to be a demonologist or she would have to run.
Those were the two options she could present to Char - Char, who had a future. Char, who wanted to be an elementary school teacher. Char, who liked soft colors and loved the cardigan Lil had made her. Char, who had blushed when Lil asked if she had a crush on her. Char, who had relentlessly handed Lil notes on classes she missed, who followed her around, worried that Lil had no friends. Char, who hadn’t minded that Lil was reading archaic texts instead of paying attention to her school work. Char, who had asked her out with a pinky promise that she wouldn’t be upset if she asked ‘like a suuuuper important question.’ Char, who had a habit of kissing her cheek when she actually ended up going to a class. Char loved when Lil would wrap her in her jacket, claiming it was just ‘suuuuper comfortable.’
Charlotte, who was going to have a future, even after Lilian left. While she might be one of the worst parts of her life, Lil decided at that moment she wouldn’t be the end of it.
As the silence went on, she saw Charlotte slump and shake her head, moving down the hall to go to the door leading out of the now-abandoned school. Pausing for a moment, Lil reached back down and tightened the bandage, thinking that it was getting close to graduation. She would have to make some moves, and - well, maybe it was better this way that it happened now.
“Bye, Char. I promise you won’t miss me in the long run,” Lil said softly, moving to meet up with Jonas to go home.

how do you think edward would react if he was in the same truck-baseball game time loop bella was in (either if bella was in it or wasn't, whatever you prefer)
For reference, that one time Bella's stuck in a time loop.
Are we asking to make Edward even crazier than usual? Well, that will surely go... interesting places. Let's do it.
Edward In the Loop With Bella
Loop One
There Edward is, facing off with James, Victoria, and Laurent, gearing up for the fight of his life as he realizes exactly what it is James wants and is planning and then...
Then he blinks, he's in the parking lot, Bella's about to be hit by a van.
Edward panics, desperately saves her life, and has no idea what's happening. Did he... hallucinate those months? Were those his lovesick dreams of having Bella for himself?
Of course they were, he says as he drives to the hospital in Bella's car, sobbing as he listens to George Michael's Careless Whisper. For Bella, this bright, beautiful, angelic girl, could never love a beast such as him. He desperately tries to put his love for Bella out of his mind, for it can never be, what they had was a dream and nothing more.
BEEEEEELLLLLLLAAAAAA!
Bella ruins this noble, romantic, tragedy in two seconds when Edward enters the hospital and goes, "You're not going to believe me, but I'm from the fuuuuuuutuuuuuuure!"
Well, Edward doesn't actually like that, makes all of this a little anticlimactic. He questions her extensively, tries to convince her that she's just hallucinating, she hit her head pretty hard, but eventually gives up. Their memories seem to match up exactly, he and Bella are actually from the future.
Edward's not even sure why he's disappointed himself, yet, somehow he is.
He goes home and gets to be the one to tell the Cullens it's all fine, he's from the future, Bella is too, they're not going to kill her because Edward's in love with her, can we skip this?
The Cullens stare, Alice really doesn't know how she feels about this, but we get a similar reaction to canon. Where Carlisle says, "Alright then... I guess this means no moving."
Edward sighs, for the first time, he doesn't really feel like going to Bella's that night. He instead sits at the piano, playing Chop Sticks, wondering why he feels so despondent.
Bella loves him, he loves Bella, they're dating, he has everything he ever wanted. Why isn't he happy?
He gets to school and Bella's very clingy and seems to want to pick off exactly where they left off. She wants Edward to sit with her at lunch, she's talking about visiting the Cullens as soon as possible, she wants to go on a real date.
And Edward realizes that he doesn't have to battle with himself to stay away from Bella anymore, he's done that. He doesn't have to rescue her in Port Angeles, Bella's not going. He's not taking her to the meadow, he's done that too.
Edward's been there and done that for all of this. This isn't even a chance to redo his mistakes, if he'd really made any, because all the things he'd want to do again involve Bella who came back with him.
Edward throws himself into dating Bella, trying to shake himself loose from this strange sense of apathy. Bella doesn't even seem to notice the difference in him, something in Edward... grows a little cold.
He finds himself to returning to his plans of how best to nobly leave her. Something he always acknowledged he would do, but before looked at with reluctance. Now he actively schemes when and how it should occur.
He should wait until summer, that will be easiest on the family for the pretext of "moving", and that way he can go to Prom with Bella. She'll get over him quickly, move on with her human life, while Edward watches her from the shadows.
Bella finally starts to notice that Edward is... distant. She tries to confront him, ask what she's doing wrong, and desperately throws herself into the relationship. That just makes it worse for Edward.
The pair start fighting, Edward insists Bella does not come to the baseball game, and just then they loop again.
Loop Two
Edward's back in the parking lot, Bella's about to be hit by a van. Edward once again heroically saves her, but he feels as if he's going through the motions.
In the hospital room, neither Bella nor Edward say a word to one another, both realize exactly what has happened. After a moment of silence, Edward suggests that, perhaps, what they need is distance.
Just a few weeks apart.
Bella says nothing.
Edward consults Alice, telling her what's been happening to him, and Alice tells him that as far as she can tell nothing is wrong with time itself. Her visions work as usual, it's just that Edward and Bella's decisions have changed.
Though, not the outcomes, Alice confirms that either Bella will become a vampire or she'll die. Alice suggests, hesitantly, that if this keeps happening perhaps Bella has to be a vampire to stop this.
Perhaps that's why Alice only sees two futures. Because any future where Bella remains human, they loop.
Edward refuses to accept this in a rage. This, this cannot happen, he will loop for all eternity rather than turn Bella! HE IS NOT A TOY OF FATE!
There's a fire in Edward now, he returns through Bella's bedroom window, and restarts their passionate romance. Bella's thrilled, the love of her life has come back for her, she cries tears of joy.
For months, Bella and Edward are back in the honeymoon stage of their romance.
They loop again.
Loop Three
Bella points out that they're still looping. This is... starting to get weird. Maybe they should figure out solutions to this?
Edward says THIS IS FINE, with Alice's words ringing in the back of his mind. Bella can never know.
Too bad for him, this is Bella's first guess. Maybe, if she becomes a vampire, somehow the loops will stop. EDWARD WILL NEVER TARNISH HER LIKE THAT.
Bella is very hurt, and upset, and asks if Edward will seriously spend forever, trapped in these few months, unable to move forward rather than turn her.
Edward desperately tries to convince her that these months are wonderful. You love being trapped in this timeframe, Bella.
He romances her harder than ever, only this time, Bella's the one that's not thrilled.
She and Edward have no future. Edward would literally rather be trapped in this utterly absurd scenario, never able to move forward with their lives, rather than turn her into a vampire.
A lot of fights happen. In desperation, Edward proves that they can move forward, that this endless loop is what vampirism itself is like, where time ceases to have meaning. He proposes to Bella, they will marry.
Bella flat out says no, she doesn't want to marry, and god marry while she's still in highschool? Can she even legally get married right now?
Edward... did not expect that answer.
The pair end up on and off fighting up until the loop happens.
Loop Four
This time, distracted by his own ire, Edward forgets to stop the van. Bella is crushed, Edward and the family have to hightail it out of there to not slurp her blood off the asphalt, and Edward is horrified.
He... murdered Bella. She's dead, because he allowed petty arguments to distract him. Oh god.
To his horror, the loop keeps going, and he lives in terror that it will proceed past the baseball game. What if Bella's dead forever? What if, rather than turn her, the only other way out of the loop was her death?
Edward's an utter mess, clawing at the walls, and the family doesn't understand at all because Bella Swan is simply a girl who had a tragic death.
To Edward's horrified relief, he loops.
Loop N
Bella remembers Edward failed to save him. She does not blame him for it, but Edward certainly blames himself and there's now... a wall between them that wasn't there.
Nonetheless, they try again. This time, they'll go back to the basics.
Edward eats her in the meadow.
They loop.
Edward keeps accidentally eating her.
It's horrible and then he realizes... it doesn't matter. It never lasts, he's a monster yes, but he always was one. It seems he's doomed to eat Bella Swan. And at least he knows she'll be here tomorrow.
And if he's damned anyway then he might as well enjoy it.
He starts eating her on purpose.
Soon, they get a little routine down.
Bella nearly gets hit by a van, Edward saves her life, they go to the hospital, Edward drags her into a closet, eats her, then throws her corpse out the window and tells Carlisle she committed suicide.
Such a tragic end.
Bella starts desperately trying to save herself, but it's all over so quick, now her life is endlessly getting eaten by Edward.
Given this loop seems to be infinitely long, and thus all remote possibilities will eventually occur, there will be a timeline where Edward accidentally turns Bella into a vampire.
However, Edward can't do math, so he hasn't figured that out yet.
In the meantime, now that he's let go of all morality, he's having a great time.
... And it's probably best we leave Edward looping on his own for another post. That got long.

little birdie (3)//five hargreeves
Warnings: blood, poorly written fight scenes
Summary: When Five lands in the Sparrow Academy, he must convince one of them to help him reset the timeline.
Word count: 1600
Author note: super short and not the best. This week i got some pretty rough news so updates may not happen as often as I want them too. I do have a plan and its officially going to be a series now! I’m going to try to get an update out at least once a week. Thanks again for all the love on the first two parts it means a lot!!
Part one, Part two , Part four, Part Five
There was a loud bang that awoke Five from his restless slumber. He grumbled groggily as it felt like he had just fallen asleep. He wondered what the hell you were doing out there. There was another crash and Five decided that it’d be best to check on you. Pulling himself out of bed was hard as he was now incredibly sore. He half expected the door to be locked again, he was wrong. Another one of your flaws, he noted, you were far too trusting.
He pulled the door open quietly as to not to give himself away if there was trouble. Unfortunately, his fears were confirmed. Ben has you pinned to the wall, tentacle around your neck, and hand over your eyes.
“Where are they, I know you’re helping them!” He yelled. Five watched silently as he watched you struggle, trying to pry yourself out of your brother’s grip. He gulped in fear that you would break and tell Ben all that you knew.
“I- I don’t know,” you choked out. You were trying everything to get him to let go. Kicking, squirming and digging your nails into his skin.
“You’re lying, I know you didn’t go on patrol yesterday. You’ve been spending a lot of time down here. Something you do when you’re hiding something,” Ben snarled. He squeezed harder and you felt all the breath leave your lungs. You gasped and coughed trying to get any air at all. Five grumbled to himself, knowing full well what he had to do. At least now you two will be even.
“Hey asshole,” Five yelled with a cheeky grin, “looking for me?”
“I knew you were lying, you little bitch,” Ben growled as he quite literally threw you across the room. You felt like all the air had been knocked out of you, and there was a high pitched ringing in your ears. You looked to Five but there was nothing but black dots dancing across your vision. You decided it might be best to give yourself a minute for everything to stop spinning.
Five looked to you worriedly, you definitely had taken a beating. This version of Ben was much more ruthless than his, and if he was being frank, it kind of scared the shit out of him- especially in his weakened state. He flashed in front of Ben and landed a punch square in his jaw. The Horror stumbled back, surprised that such a little guy packed such a powerful hit.
“Your family will be dead by nightfall, too bad you won’t be there to see it,” Ben roared before releasing the beast within him. A tentacle reached for Five, but he blinked out of the way. However one managed to strike him down
, and another pinned him into a wall. He looked down to see the blood seeping through the clean shirt you had given him, shit this was not good. He heard his brother yell out in pain and the grasp on him loosened. There you were, arms wrapped around Ben’s neck and bringing him to the ground. Five watched in amazement as you fought, it was like you were dancing. He was impressed, you were amazingly trained- even by the commission’s standards.
Going toe to toe against your brother was not a simple task, especially when he had a giant octopus monster coming out of his stomach. All you could do was dodge his swings until you could get close enough. You manage a kick right into his jaw, and you watched with pride as he stumbled back with a bloody lip. You felt guilty for doing this. All over a boy, you had met less than a day ago. There was truth behind Five’s words, you knew that the apocalypse was coming and that your family was the spark that ignited it. You knew the consequences, you had to get him back to the umbrellas, whatever the cost. You landed another hit before that royally pissed him off. He came rushing at you, right into your trap. You knew that he’d be blinded by rage. Ben grabbed you by the neck and hoisted you into the air.
“Rookie mistake,” You muttered while looking directly into his eyes. Just like that, it was over, Your dimwitted brother was much easier to take over than Five. In Number One’s body, you carefully set yourself down. You looked over to Five and rushed to his side.
“(Y/n), please tell me that’s you because I really don’t think I have it in me to kick his ass at the moment,” Five muttered clutching his stomach. You grimaced and you lifted his hand to see the fresh blood. You don’t know why but you hated to see him in pain.
“I’ll fix you up, but not here. It won’t take long for them to realize Number One has gone missing,” you explained while helping Five his feet. He looked exhausted and you were determined to keep him safe. Nothing was going to happen to him on your watch.
“Now,” you looked Five dead in the eyes, “how hard can you punch?
“What?” He responded with a quizzical look on his face.
“Like on a scale of one to one hundred, what would you say?” You asked with a small smirk.
“I don’t know, 94?” He replied.
“Perfect! I need you to knock me out,” You instructed nonchalantly.
“Fine by me, but it’s not gonna hurt you right? I’m punching Ben not (Y/n),” Five questioned as he prepared his stance.
You nodded to let him know that it was okay. Sure you’d feel it but he didn’t have to know that, besides a little white lie never hurt anyone. Five really went for it, all the angry built up in one hit. You stumbled back, closing your eyes tight. When you opened them you found yourself back in your own body and Number One splayed on the ground.
“Ninety-four my ass, that was like a 200,” You complained. You rubbed your jaw slightly trying to ease away the pain that had transferred over. Five mumbled a small apology. You just shook your head and rolled your eyes.
“Come on,” you said in a hushed tone, “sleeping beauty won’t stay down forever.”
You pulled him along as fast as the both of you could move. You were definitely sore, two big fights in the span of 24 hours was draining. Rest was not a luxury either of you could afford right now. Slipping out of the basement and into the corridor, head whipping as you did. The coast appeared to be clear. Before you could move Five pulled you into his chest, with a hand over your mouth.
“Now, I’m gonna trust you. Which I don’t normally do. If, for even a second, I think you’re gonna double cross me and my family- I will kill you,” He whispered in your ear harshly. You pulled his hand away gently and looked into his eyes,
You could tell he was searching your face for any signs of deception but he wouldn’t find any. All he could see was a severely pissed off (Y/n).
“If I wanted you dead, I would’ve let bleed out the first time my brother kicked your ass,” You snapped back. You pulled away in anger, after all you did for that little shit. If any of your siblings found you, they’d kill you- didn’t he realize that you were on his side. That you had already lost everything to reset the timeline and stop an apocalypse that may not even happen. You looked around the corner again and signaled for him to move. He followed you closely before grabbing your shoulder.
“Hold onto me tight,” He instructed. You did as you you were told and held on to his arm for dear life knowing exactly what he was about to do. Five did a quick run forward and suddenly the both of you were outside in the courtyard. You covered your mouth and bit your lip to keep from vomiting everywhere.
“I’m gonna be sick,” you groaned.
“You can do that after we’re far away from the academy,” Five said in a hurried tone. He grabbed your wrist and begun pulling you along into the street. To be honest, most everything looked the same to Five. All of the shops were the same, the people looked normal, nothing except the academy was out of place.
“Do you know where West Street is? There’s a place where we can hide out. Its safe, I promise. Clean clothes and fresh food too,” You asked with hope in your voice.
“There's no time for comfort, Ben knows where my family is. We have to find them first,” Five said with determination.
“He was bluffing, I checked. They have no leads,” You confirmed, “ and on top of that, two kids in bloody clothes will raise too many questions.”
Five looked at you wearily, You hadn't lied to him so far so why would you start now. He knew that you were right about your appearances, they’d be a dead give away. He sighed in defeat and told you he knew the way. You smiled and slipped your shades on, ready to take on the next chapter of this adventure.
“Here,” You said while slipping off your blazer. You handed it to Five and he gave you a quizzical look.
“To cover up the blood, you look like Carrie after the prom,” You joked. Five slipped it on, it was snug yet it felt very familiar. The material was the same as his old one, just red. He sighed and ran his hand over the emblem, that bird did not belong there. You noticed his discomfort but decided not to press it. The faster you got to West Street, the better life would be for the two of you.

Henry (Amphiptere Naga) Lemon
Rating: Explicit Relationship: Female Human/Male Naga Additional Tags: Exophilia, Monster Boyfriend, Naga, Amphiptere, Best Friends to Lovers, Demisexual, Graysexual, Sex Worker, Cam Model, Mutual Pining Words: 6104
A gift from @oddacle to her friend/roommate! A woman moves back to her home town after an online friend offers her both a job and a place to stay. She accidentally learns an interesting secret about him that she tries, and fails, to hide. Please reblog and leave feedback! Art by @oddacle!
The Traveler's Masterlist
You stretched at your desk and sighed. “Well, Henry, I should get to bed,” You said. “I’ve got a lot of packing to do tomorrow.”
“Dude, I can’t wait to see you in person finally!” He said over the headset. “I’m so excited you’re coming to work in the store.”
“Me too!” You said. “It’ll be nice to see you in person! And I can’t thank you enough for giving me a job and a place to stay. Working at the grocery store was crushing my soul.”
“I get that,” He told you. “I felt so out of place when I worked construction. I’m so glad I decided to save up to open the flower shop.”
“You and me both,” You said. “Flower arranging is something I love to do. I about fell out of my chair when you said you owned a shop.”
“Two more days and you’ll get to see it yourself,” He said with a laugh. “Go get some sleep. I’ll see you soon.”
“Night, Henry,” You said, smiling to yourself as you logged off. You had met Henry while gaming almost five years ago now, and he had been one of the best friends you’d ever had. At first you just played together, but after about a year, the two of you had exchanged phone numbers, and since then you texted each other constantly and called each other once a week. Despite that, you had never actually seen what he looked like. You didn’t mind; maybe he was body-shy. You could understand that.
When you finally quit the soul-suck of a job in the back of a grocery, he was quick to offer you a place in his shop, in your own home town, no less, as well as one of the apartments above the store. You’d been homesick since you moved away with your mom when you were younger, so the idea of going back had massive appeal. Combined with your dream job and working with your best friend, it was like everything you ever wanted was just falling into place.
That Saturday, you loaded every single thing you owned into a rental truck and headed to Santa Barbara, excited to start a new life and meet your best friend for the first time.
You pulled up to Henry’s Floral Arrangements later that evening just before sundown, driving nearly nine hours straight with only a few breaks for food, gas, and bathroom visits. You pulled out your phone and clicked Henry’s number.
“Hey, are you here?” He asked excitedly.
“Yep!” You said, stepping out of the truck. “I pulled up just now. Are you in the shop?”
“Yeah, I’m coming out! Be right there.” And he hung up.
You giggled at his enthusiasm and walked around the truck just as he came out of the shop, his face as excited as a brand new puppy with a brand new toy, and you stopped in your tracks.
He. Was. Beautiful.
He was a naga, but a rarer breed than average: an amphiptere. He had short, two pronged horns on his head and large wings on his back. His horns were teal, and the feathers of his wings were teal and ocean blue with black accents on the outside and grey on the inside, like the skin of his torso. His snake skin was teal and ocean blue as well, with giant black rings lining his back. His eyes were as golden as his nipple rings. He had lovely tattoos on his arms, neck, and back of waves and geometric shapes. He was lean and muscular, and had short black hair. He wore no clothing, so every inch of his glorious body was on full display.
You stood staring at him, unable to speak, as he slithered up to you. Oh god. This was not a possibility you had entertained. Living next to your best friend had sounded like a dream. But now… oh no, this was a disaster. How could you be attracted to him? You never felt attraction, not ever! Of all the times, of all the people, Henry had to be… this! This lovely specimen of a naga, and the best friend you’d ever had! What were you going to do?!
“You alright?” He asked, tilting his head and lowering himself down to look at your face.
You blinked and smiled breathlessly. “Yes! Yes, I’m great! It’s so nice to finally meet you!”
“You too!” He reached out for a hug and you walked into it. His skin was cool and smooth to the touch. He smelled like peonies. “Come in, come in, let me show you around!”
“What about unpacking?” You asked.
“Oh, leave that till tomorrow,” He said. “Let’s order a pizza and eat in the shop.”
You grinned. “That actually sounds amazing.”
“Come on!” He held out his hand and took yours and pulled you into the shop.
Oh, it was incredible. It had just crested into the middle of spring and the seasonal flowers were exploding all over the place. Color was everywhere. You closed your eyes and just breathed in the fragrances.
“Have I died?” You asked, your eyes still closed. “I’ve died, haven’t I?”
He laughed. “I hope not, you just got here.” He picked up his cell phone from the counter. “Pepperoni and pineapple on thin crust, right?”
“Yep!” You said, sitting at the counter, your eye catching on the decorative cherry blossom bonzai tree that you’d sent him for Christmas two years ago. You weren’t sure if he’d even like it, much less have kept it, but there it was, right next to the register where everyone could see it. It gave you a warm feeling in your chest.
He took you to the second floor, where there were two apartments, one on either side. You couldn’t help but notice one half of the stairs was covered with a ramp, likely to make it easier for Henry to get to the second story.
He led you to the apartment on the right and opened the door. It was a modest place but comfortable, and from the smell it seemed like it was recently deep cleaned and freshly painted in a pretty holly-green color with blush pink accents. There was a vase with all your favorite flowers spilling out of it on the kitchen table. It was mostly furnished with older but functional furniture, so you hadn’t needed to bring any heavy wardrobes or mattresses or anything, thankfully. Most of what you had in your old place was junk anyway.
“I love it,” You told Henry. “And I love the flowers.”
“I thought it would be a nice touch,” He said, holding his arm almost shyly. “I wanted you to feel comfortable.”
“I feel more comfortable here than I did in the two years I spent in my last place,” You said truthfully. “You know, we can leave the unpacking for tomorrow, but can we go down and get my rig and gear and hook it up while we wait for the pizza? It’s the only thing I have that I don’t want to leave in a truck overnight.”
“I get that,” He said.
The two of you managed to get your PC, laptop, gaming gear, and computer desk up the stairs in one trip. There was a flat screen TV on the wall of the living room to which you hooked up your PC. You ran a diagnostic as Henry heard the buzzer from the door and rushed down to get the pizza. Then the two of you spent an incredible evening eating pizza, watching comedies on Netflix, and solidifying the strength of your friendship.
You were comfortable, more so than you had ever been with anyone. Five years of talking to him was wonderful, but being close, seeing his smile, hearing his laugh and the way his eyes crinkled when he did was pure magic.
Magic that you didn’t want to ruin by being weird or creepy just because you suddenly felt attracted to him. Would he be weirded out by the fact that your brain turned into goo the moment you saw him? Would he think it was just because of his looks? You didn’t want that.
And you didn’t want to fuck up what was already an amazing relationship. Hell, meeting him in person and hanging out with him had already been a huge test of your friendship; working with him and living next to him would be an even greater one. You didn’t want to complicate it even further with an, in all likelihood, one-sided attraction.
By the time the pizza was gone and he headed back to his apartment for bed, you’d already decided to put the attraction or any notion of a relationship beyond friends out of your head.
But by God, he was beautiful.
You sort of jumped into the deep end when you started in the shop: prom season was just beginning, so you spent weeks making corsages and lapel pins. Henry thankfully spared you from having to deal with spoiled teenagers, entitled moms, and annoyed jocks dragged in by their girlfriends. Henry seemed well practiced at fielding angry customers who couldn’t make up their mind.
After work, the two of you often ate dinner together, either in his place or yours. Even though you were usually exhausted at the end of the day, you still played games together at least four times a week from your respective apartments, talking to each other over headsets even though you were probably only two walls and twenty feet apart. Sometimes you took your laptop to his apartment and played at the same desk.
It went on that way for months. It was amazing and you treasured every minute you got to spend with him. Despite putting the idea of dating him away in the back of your head, it was easy to pretend like it was just the two of you, together, against the world
After prom season ended, business slowed dramatically. You weren’t as tired in the evenings, so when you weren’t playing games with Henry, you did a little writing. You were too shy to let anyone read it, even Henry, but it still felt good to have a creative outlet.
One night, as you were writing, you heard Henry’s voice over your gaming headset on the desk. The two of you had quit playing over an hour ago, so you put it on to see if he needed anything.
“You alright, Henry? Are you back online?”
He didn’t respond, so you thought maybe you were just hearing things, but as you went to pull your headset off, you heard him say, “I’m glad to see you again. I’ve missed you.” The sound of his voice was distant, like he didn’t have his headset on.
Did he have company? His voice sounded silky and sultry, a tone you’d never heard before, and you wondered briefly if he had a girlfriend, or boyfriend. Or whatever. He’d never mentioned anything like that to you, but you weren’t his mom; he was allowed to have private things he didn’t share with other people. You did, after all.
Still, the idea that he was in a relationship cut a little deeper than you would have liked.
You heard another voice, but it was strangely robotic sounding, like it was coming through a speaker, and you couldn’t quite make out what the other person was saying. Whoever they were, they sounded male. Maybe he was in a long distance relationship?
“Mm, I love it when you talk to me like that,” Henry said, a sexy lilt in his voice. “Tell me what you’d like me to do. I could touch myself. Would you like that?”
You blushed and your heart began to race. You shouldn’t be listening to this, you knew that. It was private and none of your business. But… you couldn’t take the headset off. You wanted to hear this. You wanted him to talk to you that way. Maybe through this person, vicariously, you could have an intimate moment with him. It may be the only chance you ever got.
You heard him moan over the headset, and a sparkling heat filled your body. You bit your lip at the thrill you felt, but you were unable to move, like a deer in headlights. There was a dangerous quality to this, the idea of getting caught listening in terrified you.
You heard the person on the computer say something, but you couldn’t understand them.
Henry responded, “Of course I will. I know how much you like that… mmm, that feels so good.”
Henry’s moaning over the headset made you feel both exhilarated and astonished. You felt like you could listen to him moaned for hours.
Henry grunted sharply and repeatedly, then gasped for a minute before speaking again.
“That was wonderful,” Henry said. “It always is with you.” The other person said something you couldn’t understand, and Henry answered, “Oh, I’m afraid we don’t have time for that, darling. Our date is almost over. If you’d like to purchase a ten minute extension, you can donate an additional five hundred tokens, or you can schedule another date from any of the open slots on the main website. You know I’m always happy to spend time with you.”
You sat up in your seat, confused. Tokens? Website? What was he talking about?
There were more words you could hear, and Henry tutted. “Aww, are you sure?” He pouted. “Well, alright. I hope you won’t make me wait long, darling. See you soon.”
There was some tapping on his keyboard, and there was a power-down sound. Henry sighed and you could hear him slither out of his office, closing the door behind him.
You sat for a moment, trying to wrap your head around what you’d heard. Was he getting paid to jerk off for people? You opened a web browser and typed “amphiptere cam model” into the search engine.
You knew amphiptere nagas were rare, of course, so you weren’t surprised to only have found two results. You were surprised to find Henry’s face on one of the profiles, wearing beautiful make up and a sexy underbust corset with matching opera gloves. You clicked it, and realized he was both very expensive and highly sought after, considering all of his five weekly slots were already filled for the next two months.
Henry was a cam model. And he was apparently very good at it.
You put a hand to your forehead, stunned. What was happening right now? This was something you could never have anticipated. He was hot, of course, but he always seemed like a shy, down-to-earth kind of guy to you, even after meeting him. Who knew he had this in him? You weren’t judging, it was just surprising.
You didn’t manage to get much sleep that night, and when you did, you dreamt of being on the other end of that screen and woke in a sweat.
The next morning, you stood in the shower with your thoughts in a roil. Should you tell him you know? Would he be upset with you? Probably; listening in was a huge breach of both privacy and trust. Oh, god, what had you done? How were you supposed to act around him now? He’d know something was wrong; you could never hide your emotions well and he knew you better than anyone. Was it too late to live in a cave and cut ties with society altogether?
No, there was no internet in caves. Fuck.
You couldn’t avoid him forever; you were due downstairs for work. You could tell him that you were sick, but knowing him, he’d shut down the shop for the day to take care of you. He was so damn sweet.
No, You said, mentally slapping yourself. Don’t get distracted by his adorableness! This is a crisis!
You got out of the shower and started brushing out your hair, your stomach in knots. A knock at the door made you jump clean out of your towel. Throwing on your robe, you went to answer it. Henry was standing there with a bag and coffee, and his eyes widened when he saw your bathrobe.
“Oh, sorry, I just came to bring some breakfast. Felt like treating you a little.”
You swallowed a lump in your throat and smiled. “Thanks, this is awesome. I’ll get dressed and meet you down in the shop. You’re the best.”
He gave you a full, sharp-toothed grin and snaked his way downstairs, leaving you to grip the door to keep from falling to your knees. Did he have to be so kind? He was the worst!
You met him downstairs and tried to be normal through breakfast, but all you could think of was the way he moaned last night and tried to keep the blush off your face. Work wasn’t any better, you had all of ten customers that day, so you spent most of it talking to Henry and daydreaming about him calling you darling. It was all you could do to hold it together.
After closing the shop, he asked if you wanted to have dinner and a game at his place, but you declined, saying you were tired. He seemed concerned but didn’t press it, and you were able to escape upstairs.
You made yourself some tea to try and settle your nerves, stress-eating girl scout cookies straight from the box as you waited for the water to boil. Was it going to be like this forever? This was torture.
Another knock at the door startled you into dropping your cookies.
“Fuck!” You hissed at yourself as you bent to pick up a box. “Get your shit together!”
Henry was at the door. He had a bag from a deli.
“I brought you soup,” He said. “You seemed like you weren’t feeling well today. Is anything wrong?”
You felt incredibly guilty, staring at that bag for a solid minute, unable to talk.
“Hey,” He said, frowning and squinting into your eyes. “What’s up? Talk to me. What’s wrong?”
“I’m so sorry, Henry,” You said without thinking.
“Sorry?” He said. “For what? What happened?”
You were having a hard time articulating your thoughts. You hadn’t meant to say sorry, and once it slipped out, your mind blanked.
“Look, can I come in?” He asked plaintively. “Something is obviously wrong. I want to help.”
You scrubbed your face. “Okay.”
He followed you in and laid the soup on the table. “So… tell me. What’s going on?”
“I don’t even know how to say it,” You said, looking around helplessly. Your eyes fell on your headset. You picked it up and listened to it, and you could hear the fan from his office running. “Here,” You said, handing it to him. “Listen.”
He put the headset on, frowning with confusion.
“Do you hear anything?” You asked.
“I think that’s the fan, right?”
“Yeah, from your office,” You said.
He laughed as he took it off. “I’m an idiot, I must have forgot to disconnect last night after we were playing.”
“Right, it was active last night. All last night. I could hear you.”
His face went from confusion to blank shock, his mouth hanging open.
“...oh,” He said quietly. “Oh, god.”
“I’m so sorry,” You said. “I shouldn’t have listened. I should have taken it off and ignored it. I’m so, so sorry.”
There was a pause. “How long did you listen?”
“I think it was the whole thing. I heard you… finish.” You blushed just thinking about it.
“That was a thirty minute session,” He said, confusion back on his face. “Why did you listen so long?”
You looked away and bit your lip, unable to meet his eyes.
“Did you… enjoy it?” He asked. He sounded almost hopeful.
You couldn’t speak, but you nodded once.
“Really?” You heard a smile in his voice, and you managed to look up. He had a goofy, sappy grin on his face. “You don’t think it’s gross or anything like that?”
You shook your head. “No. I’m curious, though. Why do you do it?”
“I only do it during the off seasons,” He said. “The first year was really hard for the store and I almost lost the shop. I got into camming to make ends meet, but the money was so good I just continued to do it when business is really slow. I’ve been able to save a lot of money this way. I was even thinking of opening a second location, and I think at the end of this season, I’ll have enough.” He looked very shy. “You really don’t mind it?”
You shook your head fervently. “No, not at all.” You looked at his earnest face. He didn’t seem angry, and while you were relieved, you also felt inquisitive. “What’s it like? Does it feel weird?”
“It did at first,” He admitted. “But it’s normal now. It’s actually fun, especially getting ready and putting on the clothes and stuff. I don’t really get to wear that stuff out, so it’s the only time I get to feel… I don’t know, fancy.”
You smiled softly. “I think I get that.”
“Actually,” He said, rubbing his neck. “I was going to record a free promo to put up on the website tonight. Do you want to help me do my makeup? I sort of self-taught myself, but I can never get the eyeliner right.”
“Oh! Yeah, of course, sure!” You said. “I really liked that corset I saw you in.”
He narrowed his eyes at you and smirked. “Did you Google me?”
“I had to,” You said. “Wouldn’t you?”
He laughed. “I guess.” He took your hand and led you toward the door and his apartment. “Come on. I’ve always wanted to have someone help with this. I’m never sure which colors compliment my skin.”
“Wait, let me grab my makeup bag,” You said, running back to your bathroom, snatching it up, and returning. “Okay, let’s go.”
Helping a guy with his makeup counted as a date, right?
He took you to his bedroom, which you’d never been. There wasn’t any furniture, not even a bed. Instead there was a huge nest of fluffy pillows and soft blankets which took up most of the floor space. He had a large walk-in closet where there was a hidden vanity with fairy lights around the mirror. The hangers had various corsets, fishnet shirts, and gloves. There was another desk that seemed to be a large jewelry case.
“This must have cost a fortune,” You said, impressed. You wished you had the confidence to wear some of this.
“A small one,” He told you. “Sometimes in camming, you have to spend to make money. The customers like variety; it’s why I record a new free promo every week. I don’t want my patrons to get bored with me.”
“Who could ever get bored with you?” You blurted without thinking.
You blushed. He blushed.
“Uh… I don’t have any chairs,” He said. “But you can sit on my tail, if you like.”
“Are you sure?” You asked, looking at his tail as it made a hump for you to rest on. “Won’t I hurt you?”
“No, no, not at all,” He said. “Please. I want you to be comfortable.”
“Really, it’s okay, I’ll stand,” You said, unable to even imagine sitting on his beautiful tail. “Now, let’s see. We’ll wash your face first and then we’ll start on your make-up. What about a gold lip? That’ll make your eyes pop.”
“Ooh, that’s a good idea,” He said. “I just bought some new shades recently, and I think there’s a gold in there.”
Applying his makeup for him was a stressful experience. You were eye to eye with him, so close you could feel his breath on your skin. His lips were inches away from your own, and you were having trouble not dwelling on that fact. He was cold-blooded, and therefore generated no heat, but you wondered if he could feel yours at this distance, if he enjoyed it or was made uncomfortable by it.
You did also notice, though, that his tail had wrapped around the two of you twice. He let his arms dangle, but you noticed the muscles twitching a few times and asked yourself if you might be making him self-conscious. After all, you were the only person in his real life who knew about all this.
“Makeup done,” You said. “You look amazing. I wish I could pull off a look this daring.”
“I bet you could,” He said with a smile, looking at you fondly. “Now that I think about it, I’ve never seen you done up before. I’ll have to take you somewhere really nice so that I can see what that looks like.”
Again he blushed, even through the makeup, and pressed his lips together.
You didn’t answer that statement, trying not to read too much into it, and instead looked over at his vast array of cute garments. “How about that gold and blue underbust with the Victorian scrolling pattern? I think it would look good with your makeup.”
“Oh, yes, that’ll work nicely,” He said, grinning. “And that shrug with those gloves. I usually work a little bit of a striptease into these promos.”
You cleared your throat. “You… uh… you’ll have to let me go,” You said, gesturing at his tail.
“Oh!” He jumped and unspooled, so to speak. “Sorry. Have you ever laced a corset before?”
“Yeah, once or twice. I’ve had friends who’ve worn them before. Would you like help?”
“Yes, please,” He said. He lifted his arms to let you reach around him and position the corset, gingerly moving the feathers of his wings out of the way so that you didn’t crush them. “Thank you for this. I’ve never gotten finished so fast before. I should ask you to help all the time.”
“I wouldn’t mind,” You said, pulling the strings taut. “This was fun.”
“I’m glad you think so, too,” He said, looking over his shoulder. “If you don’t have any plans after I’m done filming and editing the video, would you like to come back over and help me take all of it off?”
You looked at him and blushed.
“I didn’t mean that in a dirty way,” He said hurriedly. “It’s just nice having someone who knows and I can talk to about it.”
“I get that,” You said as he pulled on the gloves. “Are you ready to record?”
“Yeah,” He said. “Thanks for helping.”
“Sure,” You told him. “I has happy to. I’ll let you get to it, then.”
He nodded and you saw yourself out.
When you got back to your apartment and sat down at your gaming desk, you sighed heavily, the thoughts of how good Henry looked revolving in your mind. You were both extremely attracted to him and a bit jealous that he looked better than you in all that stuff. It actually made you laugh a little bit.
“Welcome back,” You heard Henry say, and you looked down at the headset laying on your desk.
Oh jeez, he left his headset plugged in again. God you loved him, but he was such an idiot sometimes.
“I’m glad you could join me. I’m hoping your having a lovely day.” You heard the soft shhff of him taking off one of the gloves. “I always love seeing your face. I love the way your hands move. I love the smell of your shampoo when it mixes with your perfume. I love that soft little smile that you get when you arrange flowers across the shop from me.”
…what? What did he just say?
“I hope you’re listening. I’ve tried so hard to say this to you when we’re face to face, but I can never seem to find the words. This way, I can say what I want. This way, if you don’t hear me, then I haven’t risked our friendship, and if you do hear and don’t feel the same, you can ignore it, and nothing has to change. But… if you do feel the same… come back. Please. This show is for you and no one else. I’ll be waiting for you.” You heard the headset being pulled off and laid down on the desk.
You stood up and did the same. He couldn’t mean you, could he? There was no way. Stunned, you walked back toward your front door and opened it, looking across the hall at Henry’s door.
It was cracked open.
With your heart in your throat and breathing like you just ran a mile, you pushed it open and walked slowly toward his office, only to find it empty. The headset was laying on the desk and the camera was off. Looking down the hallway, you saw the light in his bedroom was on and the door was also cracked. Swallowing hard, you walked down to his room and opened the door.
He was laying there, curled up around himself, laying with his head on his arms, looking a little forlorn.
“Henry?” You asked.
He popped up immediately, his eyes widening. “You came.” He whispered. “You actually came!” Before you could respond, he rushed up and snatched you off the ground, hugging you tight. “Does this mean you want me, too? The way I want you, I mean.”
“I… yes,” You said. “I just didn’t want you to think it was because of… well… all this.”
“I don’t care about that, I’m just so happy,” He said, kissing your cheek. “I’ve been in love with you forever, even before we met in person. I was just scared that if you found out about my second job, you’d be disgusted. Knowing you don’t mind it gave me the courage to try and confess.”
“I’m glad you did,” You replied, hugging him tightly around the neck. “I’d never have been able to do it.”
He pulled back and looked at you. “Can I kiss you, please?”
You laughed at the absurdity, but you appreciated that he asked first. He was thoughtful like that. You nodded, and he didn’t waste time, pressing his lips to yours hard enough that you could feel the fangs behind them.
His kisses became hungry, and he gripped your clothes. “I… um… don’t want to assume,” He said breathlessly between kisses. “But… um…” He looked over at his bed-nest, and regarded you with a questioning look.
“It’s okay,” You replied. “I’ve wanted this for a long time, too.”
He snaked over to the nest and lay you down in it, unbuttoning your shirt.
“Should I take off the corset for you?” You asked him.
“I can leave it on, if you like,” he said seductively, kissing your neck and leaving a trail of sparkling gold lipstick on your skin.
“Would that be uncomfortable?” You asked.
“Not at all,” He replied, his kisses moving lower. “I want to look good for you.”
“I’m not a client, Henry,” You said. “You don’t have to work so hard to impress me. I’m already in love with you.”
“That’s good to hear,” He said, his lips against your breast. “But it’s not about wanting to impress you and I don’t see you as a client. I see you as the woman I want to be with. I should put more effort into my time with you than anyone else. I want you to know you’re special to me.”
“You’ve done more than enough to make me feel special,” You said. “I want to return the favor.”
Your hand went into his hair as his tongue swirled around your nipple, and the lower half of his tail moved up around your head. When you turned to look at it, you saw a swollen, puckering slit, normally hidden underneath him as he moved, that he now revealed to you. You pressed your finger along the line, and he moaned against your skin. One of his hands reached down into your pants, into your underwear, and touched you.
You gasped softly at his fingers tickling your slit, you doubled your efforts on his own, moving your head so that your tongue could reach it and licking a slow stripe upward. A strangled, broken grunt came from him.
He continued to undress you slowly and kiss your body, touching you and teasing. You writhed underneath him while sucking at the slit on his body, watching as a bright golden organ slowly peaked its way out, followed by another. You were startled at first, but it was fascinating to watch. You took one in your hand and sucked on the tip of the other, reveling in the sounds that he made.
His lips finally came back up to meet yours, the need in his body evident as he lined one of his cocks up to you, the other resting against your clit. He rose up to look at you.
“Still okay?”
You nodded. “It’s okay.”
He began to push himself inside you, kissing your forehead and cheek as he did so. You gripped his shoulders and held on as he fully seated himself, his second member resting between you. The slit was farther down on his tail, about halfway down, so the position was a little awkward at first, but the two of you pulled each other close and found a rhythm that suited you.
He lifted you up easily, his tail between your legs, undulating into and out of you, and all you could do was hang on for the ride. You moaned, held securely in his arms, his wings flaring out behind him, the light of his bedroom lamp filtering through the feathers like sunlight through clouds.
“I’m so close,” He gasped, picking you up as a flood gushed from the cock you had been riding, splashing against your leg and his tail, before he moved you onto the second one and kept going.
“That’s handy,” You said, also gasping.
“When this one is done, the other one will be ready again,” He said as you bounced on him.
“Oh, god,” You wheezed. “What have I gotten myself into?”
He laughed breathlessly and kissed you again, hitting harder and faster. You felt your own wave coming fast and you began to moan and whimper, not able to control the sounds you made.
Finally, you came, and the rush of ecstasy filled your mind. You lay your head on his shoulder as you dangled in his grasp bonelessly, his tail still moving inside you slowly.
After giving you a moment to recover, he sped up again, and you came again. It might have been hours before the two of you found a stopping point, or more precisely, and exhaustion point. He lay you down in the nest, corset and makeup still on, and the two of you slept in a sweaty pile.
The next morning, he woke up with the makeup smeared across his face and a serious case of bed-head. You laughed.
“What’s funny?” He asked sleepily, smiling at you from the coil of his tail.
“I think I should have taken you up on the offer to help you dress down,” You said. “Let’s get that taken care of.”
You helped him out of his corset and the two of you stepped into the bathroom, three-fourths of which was just the shower. Stepping into the shower, you soaped him down and washed his long body, and he did the same for you. The two of you couldn’t help kissing and giggling and cuddling the whole time.
He ordered in breakfast as you dashed across the hall to fetch some clothes. When you got back, you said, “You didn’t get to record your promo.”
“I can do it tonight,” He said. “Will you help me with it?”
“Of course,” You said. “I’ll be your manager or assistant or whatever you’d like to call me.”
“I’d like to call you my girlfriend, actually,” He said with a smile.
“I like the sound of that,” You replied, hugging him around the waist. “Partners in all things.”
“I like that, too. Speaking of which, I think I might be able to open that second location sooner than I thought.”
“Why’s that?”
“Well, if you live with me in my apartment, we can rent out your apartment, and the extra income will help. Two birds, one stone.”
You smiled. “Sounds good to me. As long as I’m with you.”
“Always.”

What I Want Most in Monster Camp
I got Monster Camp, and I am loving it, but as a sequel it leaves something to be desired. Not that it’s bad by any means, but there’s one main thing I really want from this franchise moving forward. I wish it felt more like a sequel. It would be nice if they updated Monster Prom so that when you get a certain ending, it spits out a code that you can put into Monster Camp that tells the game to remember that you did this. Did you take Damien to the Prom? Great. He should remember that in Monster Camp. Maybe with a slight change to the stakes of the game. Rather than asking your crush to watch the meteor shower, if you have the Damien Prom code, your quest is instead to ask Damien to be your boyfriend. Something that shows more of a progression of your relationship with him. Now in all fairness, what about games where said character isn’t a romance option? And that’s up to the developers honestly. For instance if you get the boyfriend ending for Damien in Monster Camp, maybe if you plug that into the winter lodge or road trip, either Damien pops up out of the blue for a quick make-out sesh or he sends you a letter from back home, something to remind the player of what exists outside the game. And again, that’s me spitballing.
The main reason I want this is romantic progression. Now, am I expecting this highly absurdist comedy game to eventually lead to marriage and babies? No. But it would be kind of interesting to see what actually getting with these characters is like. Seeing what they’re like as a partner, and getting all those cute moments of actually being in a relationship instead of just chasing them. Cuz if you think the game would be less absurd and crazy because you’re already dating Damien, he’ll stab himself just to avoid being predictable.
But this can also have other impacts, such as continuations of concepts or furthering of friendship dynamics with the other characters. Did you get the bloody prom queen Miranda ending? Congrats, now that Miranda is the prom queen, her next step is that she’s trying to be the actual ruling monarch of the school, or she’s trying to invade the elementary school to plunder their resources and annex them into her new sovereign nation because she’s a cute little psychopathic idiot like that. Now, would they have to do something like this? No, not at all, but I think even if it’s only for certain endings, it would be nice if endings and secret story routes had Easter eggs or payoffs in later games, if not their own continuing storylines. They don’t even really have to be connected necessarily. You got the punching Damien ending in Monster Prom? Here’s a connected storyline of Damien’s dads making him to go to anger management classes for getting into a fist fight on prom night. You’re not so much continuing the idea that Damien wants to fight you as taking that idea to its next logical step. Making a threw line that maybe is telling a larger story over time, and that doesn’t have to erase the new absurdist endings and material that’s all 100% Monster Camp. But if Monster Camp gets a DLC equivalent to Second Term, this is definitely what I’d want to see the most. A growth in relationships, a continuing of storylines, and a sense that these characters are slowly becoming more and more familiar as the games continue to come out.

❀
They say that on the longest nights of spring you can see it. When the dark frames the stars in tenebrous black and the halo of the moon umbers the shallow of the sky. When the flowers bloom in a thicket down old country lanes and the ground softens for idle footsteps. Just beyond its fleecy hedges and dew-damp grass, framed by the large body of an antique greenhouse it can all be seen: two lovers in an embrace as beautiful and age-old as the wrinkled love-lines on their palms.
❀
It’s 7am.
And it’s a Sunday.
You find that during the times you need it most, comfort is in a suitcase and has taken the next flight south.
Feet strewn out from the duvet and palms placed flat to the bed, you find yourself with the sudden urge to breathe. Dormant around you, your room is dark and the distant sounds of birds can be heard outside. Thoughts are wild in your head, uncaged and hitting at your skull to escape. You find them moving to your windpipe and toying with your ability to take in the right amount of air you physically need to breathe right now. Whenever this happens, it’s like the cold of the outside has come indoors and made its bed in your chest. It’s like all the muscles in your body are working against you. This feeling has lasted for over three years now, or what feels like your whole life. It happens suddenly and unexpectedly, at times when you’re low or even when you're at your happiest. A gust of wind will fill the air and instantly, you're trapped again.
Reaching for the blinds, you pull yourself up against the headrest and attempt to let some sunlight and air into the room. You wrap your fingers around the beads of the pull and gently tug as light streams across the floor of your room and slowly climbs the walls. You ball your eyes shut as the exposure blinds you and almost hiss at the sudden change of atmosphere in the room. Although now incredibly bright, you still feel your hands shaking and lungs wheeze as you curl yourself further against the wall, commanding yourself to stay calm.
You feel your body reach this state whenever you consciously or unconsciously muster up thoughts of the past. Thoughts regarding negative experiences: failed friendships, attempted friendships, unrequited loves, unwanted advances from desperate, hungry, grease-slicked hands..
You don't want to have to go through this so often. To face the threat of feeling an inch of your being escape you each day. You want to be held, caressed and healed. You want to be bundled up into a blanket of another body only to disappear into them and their world and to never return again.
Sucking in another breath of air, you fish for the bottle of water on your side cabinet. With such restless, anxious hands, you find the task incredibly hard and end up having to get out of bed to reach for the bottle now face forward on the floor, dribbling onto the carpet.
Hands and feet now damp and jittery, you attempt to salvage the remaining drops of water in the bottle before draping the duvet back over you, right up to your shoulders, and nestling against the wall like a caterpillar to its cocoon.
You think about taking deep breaths, and rubbing your hands to conduct heat. You also think about all the terrible, horrible things that lay wake in your past. You don't want to think about these things, you want to find your way out of this panic. Negative thoughts as pungent as these don't tend to want to go away as quickly as the others do.
You've learnt to let the thoughts linger, accept their presence, acknowledge them and deal with them one by one. It isn’t an easy task and it’s not a quick one either. It’s like rationalizing your derationalized thoughts into specific moments of your life that really hurt to think about. It’s worth it when someone like your therapist is helping you out, but when it’s just you on your own, it feels impossible knowing where to start. One of the best things you’ve found recently, is morphing your fear into tiredness and letting your anxiousness send you to sleep. It sounds like the opposite of something that anxiety should do, but by the time you’ve exhausted your mental and physical capacity, you feel ready to sleep for a thousand years or more.
So with minimal effort, and the sudden feeling of aching bones and a sore throat, you tip yourself back into bed. And when you close your eyes, it takes all the effort in the world to push back all those thoughts telling you to stay up and worry and bleed yourself raw. But against the odds, you do it. You do it like clockwork because this is like a routine to you, one that means you can never fully relax in the wake of losing a part of yourself all over again.
❀
Sunlight is like the lighthouse that finds you stranded on the shore and wakes you from your sleep. It pulls you from the deep water and onto the warm speckles of sand. You’ve woken up.
In many ways, you feel like you’ve never been asleep. Your throat still stings and you haven’t forgotten the feeling of being unable to breathe. It’s like sleep is the short term solution to an everlasting problem that can take a backseat for your slumber but pop back up ten-fold as soon as you wake. And even then, it won’t be long before the problem starts to probe into your dreams. You feel like that’s already started to happen. A thin husk of memory tells you that your last dream definitely was a nightmare and that you’ve been haunted by monsters and dream figures chasing you for a while.
Things seem much better when you aren’t in the shell of your room or the realm of your sleep. Since your later teenage years, you found much more comfort staying in or near the outdoors, sometimes surrounded by your parents, sometimes calmed by your cats. It was a shame because your room to you was your haven, a slice of heaven covered in all the things that you loved. And you still love it, you just feel a slight weight in its presence, one that the outdoors helps brush away.
You stretch your feet and rub your chest, relieved to find yourself breathing normally again. Twisting in your bed, you wrestle a teddy off the side and move to head toward the door. Wetting your feet on the rug still damp from your spilled water, you trudge toward the end of the room and swing open the door from its hinges before walking across to the kitchen.
On a quiet 9am Sunday morning, you want nothing more than to bury your troubles in tea and a book. Your school week has once again ended, culminating in the beginning of a spring break. It has also meant your parents leaving on the next train they could out of your hometown and into the city.
Since the dawning of time - or rather the first waking moment you could remember - you had lived in the countryside. The air was a fresh lavender breeze, the sky at night blew out stars like blaring bulbs and the ground beneath always felt like it was rooting itself back to you. They say ‘the grass is always greener’, and many times you had almost fooled for it: believing that life in the city would bring you the freedom you really wanted from your parents, the joy from true love you lacked. You thought it would change the cycle of your life, like all those terrible moments that had happened to you could have been avoided if it weren’t for the sanctuary of suburbia. Like the knowledge you would have known there, would have protected you from all the devils of this world.
You sometimes felt you didn’t know enough, That Tolkien and Carroll weren’t enough to shape your knowledge into experiences otherwise faced by children of the city. That you were strange, the odd one out because you hadn’t had the life you felt a lot had been living. At 12 there were no first relationships, at 16 no proms, at 18 no parties, at 20 certainly no lovemaking. Had you been living falsely? Was your clone-self fulfilling your wishes out in the world without your knowledge?
These feelings were occurrences that hit you when you were down; crept up on you when you least expected it. But most times, you knew better. You knew your life was good and that the only feeling you were missing out on was feeling complete in regards to that. You could see it in the way your parents walked when they’d return from weekends in the city: shoulders slightly slumped, breath laboured, legs an entanglement of walking on thick tar or marble stairs. You could see it in the way the blare your box TV made you feel whenever you seldom switched it on or the way street cars or school kids made you feel whenever you stumbled to the edge of the green belt on the cusp of the town.
It was a feeling that reminded you that you loved the countryside. That whatever you had missed out on, you only had to gain by the joy you felt living in this little world of your own. That whatever you faced, were facing, or yet to face, would be outweighed by the positives that surrounded you each and every day.
With a lighter note to your step, you made your way to the kettle and took it to the tap. Filling it with water, you latch it back on to its base and switch it on. Today was a green tea day, the fresh scent of leaves and the warm yet bitter taste of vegetal flora. You pop a bag of it into a bottomless white mug and wait for the kettle to chime.
Every spring break since your early teenage years was one you had looked forward to. That, and the addition of any single break you got away from working and learning. You loved the time away to pursue what you really loved most and to feel as if you had all the time in the world.
Most of all, you loved being with your friends.
You couldn’t forget that what had made your experience in the country so beautiful and thriving was the people you had around you. Without them, you’d have no experiences at all, let alone the knowledge to make things like the cup of tea you were brewing right now. All of them had taught you different things and given you different opportunities and adventures. All seven of them being boys, you missed their brotherly presence and the feeling of really belonging when you were beside them. In fact, you hoped today, with feeling more solemn and tired, they’d magically sense your sadness and start the spring break with you.
Fishing the bag from your mug, you stir the tea and bring it out to the front garden. Closing the door gently behind you, you move onto the patio and sit against the wall of your house, brushing against a rose bush climbing its walls to the drain pipe of the roof. Setting your mug on the cold of the ground. You turn to your left and push at the floor of the patio, skimming your nails against the brick edge of one of the tiles. With quick effort, the brick slides to the side and you lean forward to peer into the shallow of ground dug out below. Under this small tile of your garden was a small collection of books you were currently reading. You prized your books, but never bought them new without their own wear-and-tear. Keeping them underground would only further the process of their weathering, so any books you bought were second hand from the local market or given as a gift from one of your friends who was a book-worm.
Reaching down, you close your eyes and pick a random book of the day. Sliding back the tile, you flick through the browning pages to the dog-eared bookmark of where you last were and start to read. It’s no fun just reading one book at once. You love to pursue multiple lives and experiences at one time as well as critique books on what one lacks and the other makes up for. If given the opportunity to do so, why not take the bull by the horns and charge into multiple universes with adventurous intentions?
With an open mind, you continue to read, your intention to fall into this book for at least a few hours before resurfacing back to reality. You find time slipping further with each crease of a new page. Your tea growing colder as you take small, yet thoughtful sips, popping the mug back onto the tile and rubbing your leg in reflection. What brings a story to an end? What is it that causes the binding to fold shut? Is it that a character can finally be content with the way things are; is it that their pain has finally ended and now the stage of their acceptance begins? You’ve always hoped that books would carve out your path for you, would give you the knowledge you needed to move on, or bring a charming fantasy character to you without you lifting a finger. You wanted to know what it was that you were searching for, that comfort that could just be right in front of you..
You turn a page.
“Y/N!”
“Namjoon?!”
You look up, and see him. Dropping your book back into your lap, you wrestle with your hands and move the hair from your eyes.
He’s staring back at you, intent on grabbing all of your attention. His umber eyes shine against the afternoon light and his flushed lips grin a lopsided smile. Sun-kissed, tawny skin and a button-nose - he is a vision - and you forget how hard it is to maintain eye contact with him for too long until your staring right back and squinting at his beauty.
His eyes drop down to your book and move back up, glowing with his usual sense of admiration and approval.
“Reading another one this time?”
“Yeah..” You mumbled “Well I've started this one already but i took a break from it and picked it out today in a random draw. But it’s pretty good so far so i’m not really fussed. I think I might even pursue this one fully to the end. No breaks..cool, right?”
“What one is it?” He responds, pulling the cover up into his eye line and taking it into his hands.
“You should know by the cover. Go on. Guess.”
“I’m not that good..”
“Hey! You were the one who lent me the book!”
“Probably because I've never gotten the chance to read it..”
“You recommended it to me!”
He squints and observes both sides of the book, careful to not peer at the binding with the title on. You watch with a strange enthusiasm as you yet again share a bonding moment with him over something you feel not many cherish anymore. It’s good to have common interests with others, yet the more you divulge in them, the deeper you fall into that person.
“It’s Doctor Zhivago by...Boris..Pasternak?” He smiles “But translated right? I can’t remember the man’s name..”
“You mean ‘name’s’. Hayward and Harari. Bit of a tongue twister. It’s so good.”
“That book was the most complicated thing.”
“But romantic.” You whisper.
“What was that?” He tilts his head.
“I said it..it’s romantic.”
“Oh..” He blushed “Yeah it’s very well written. Right..”
❀
Sometimes you guessed that ‘that’ was the thing you were missing. When you lay awake in bed at night, or felt yourself losing breath in the bundle of a blanket; in the morning, spilling a frozen mug of tea, or at night, clutching onto one of the books he had given you. Your friends had given you everything you needed, helped you in different ways, and sometimes you didn’t know how to repay them. You were reminded that you were enough, that what you did by just being you was enough to keep all of them smiling. Your friends had given you everything, but more than ever, right now, recently, one person had been taking over all of your thoughts, all of your friendships.
Here he was standing in front of you. And yet again you maintain normal conversation. You avert your eyes to intense stares, you keep from slipping on your tongue. Your hands stay in your lap, and your fingers ache to touch his. It was something you thought of often, yet something that remained at the back of your mind. Like a dirty secret, you didn’t want this longing to ruin the broken bridges you’d connected from your past that had taken you so long to build.
But moments like these, when he smiled too bright, or let his cheeks tinge pink in the presence of you without even trying to hide it..you knew you were so damn screwed.
❀
“y/n?”
You snapped from your thinking “Yeah, huh?!”
“Thinking again?”
“Yeah. Sorry..”
He smiled, exposing those beautiful dimples “It’s okay. I was wondering if you wanted to pop into mine and grab some more new books to read once you’ve finished that one?”
“That actually sounds great. I think the spring break will give me more time to read some of your favourites.”
“Awesome. C’mon then.” He reached out his hand to pull you up onto your feet and take you next door to his house. Like a burning crush, you touch his hand and feel a small fire come to life in your stomach. It was a common occurrence and one you still hadn’t managed to learn how to extinguish. Rather it had become a feeling you blamed on too much herbal tea or lack of sleep.
Deep down, the small fire was telling you that its existence was most likely due to ‘him’.
You follow Namjoon next door, across the small valley of your front garden and into his. He was tall, masking the view ahead of you, and his broad shoulders stretched the expanse of the garden gate as he idly swung it open. In a metaphor, he was a large, wise-old tree. You had envied him ever since your young teenage years and were unlikely to ever feel superior, let alone on the same level as him.
❀
As your neighbour, Namjoon moved in when you were 11. Living your whole life in the same house out in the country, bothered only by the rising sound of birds, you’d yet to have a neighbour that wasn’t five times the age of you. It was a new experience, and happened to come at the most confusing and inconvenient age of your life where you were like a magnet to anyone of the same age and opposite gender. Alongside your other six male school friends you had happened to befriend, moving up to secondary school, you found he was soon to become your 7th. Like your other friends, he was kind, charming and open from the moment you made your first greeting. You all found interest in the hobbies of adventure and play and reveled in the fact that your fantasy world was now one to share with many others.
Growing up as a human was weird enough at 11: weird bodily changes, voice-deepening, and a sudden strong romantic attraction to others. Your friends and you thought it was funny, speaking at lengths only to crack off tune or bopping Adam's apples like a game of tennis while you sat there and touched at the flat plain of your female neck. At times you’d play twister and fall apart at the sudden growth of each other's legs and how it would up the difficulty of the game without you even trying. Other times you’d stare at the faces across from you and wonder what the soft blades of their cheeks would feel like to touch.
You thought that was bad enough, but at 19 it had hit you like a brick and was only getting worse.
❀
“You had a bad night?”
You look up as he turns around by the door of his house and nod, “Yeah..something like that i guess..”
“You can tell me about it.” He pauses and brushes his fingers against the tips of yours - and there goes that fire in the pit of my stomach again..
“It’s okay. It was just a bit of an anxiety attack. It came on unprovoked, no reason, no big deal.”
“As long as you're sure.”
He stares into the pits of your soul with that intent and interest in his eyes again, and you simply nod and smile.
“Alright, let’s go find a new book to cheer us up. I’ve got this amazing one i found at last weeks market, you won’t believe the coloured edgism on it!”
❀
A few hours had passed and you and Namjoon had gone through dozens of his books, discussing why each and every one was a merit to read. You found his bookshelf harbored all sorts of genres, but favoured writers such as Murakami and Hesse. It truly was a sight to behold: a 16-shelf, 7-foot mahogany cupboard of prismatic-colour in the form of disjointed stack upon stack of novels. It was like a second home to you; one for the books, and two for the person who lived there.
“So you’ve chosen?..” Namjoon tilts his head, looking up from his spot kneeling on the floor.
“Ah..i’m really not sure.”
“Go on.” He sniggers, “I'll do a drum roll.”
“Okay. So. I’m choosing ‘A Wild Sheep Chase’..aaand, ‘The White Book’!”
“Those are amazing! Hold on, show me the covers again.”
You move from your position leaning against the bookshelf, and kneel next to him, arm brushing against the cotton of his. He seems to respond to this, and shuffles closer, knee knocking yours as he moves to see the covers of the books more clearly.
Although he’s silent, you feel his acknowledgement and study of the novels before him as he remembers their plots and summarizes his critiques against them. Knowing him for so long, you can almost feel the cogs in his brain working and you struggle to hold back a smile as you imagine him feeling the same way about you.
*ding, dong*
In a sudden halt, the door rings, and the two of you separate as quickly as you came together to head towards the entrance. A silent awareness slips between the two of you regarding the past few hours you’d spent scrolling through books together. This was something friends did, right?
“Hey, lovebirds!” You hear a deep voice chime and peer from the side of Namjoon to see the other six of your friends standing out on the patio in a huddle. Taehyung stands centre of the pack, beaming with his box-grin as if he’d just opened the gift of his life. You peel back behind Namjoon nervously and wave back to them, making yourself known, watching a smile deepen on all of their faces as they glance back and forth between the two of you.
You know what it must look like, but you’d hoped they’d be used to it by now. The older you got, the more time you divided towards Namjoon compared to the rest of the boys and you never gave an explanation for it, leaving an air of question between you and the others. At this point, you weren’t surprised by their assumptions. You simply went along with it, hoping one day their words would manifest themselves into tangible things.
“Hi guys. How’s the beginning of Spring Break treating you?” Namjoon smiles, fiddling with the books now in his hands.
“It’s going well. We were enjoying the sun and nearly forgot about you guys.” Jimin replies, a sly wink directed your way.
“C’mon now, what do you want?” You smile.
“Come to the hideout with us.” Jungkook chimes, scrunching his nose, “Let’s make some plans and get stuff done!”
❀
It was a mossy road, filled with scattered piles of leaves, hulking rocks and long, giant-like cutlasses of grass. Trees decorate the rim of the trail, large oaks and fuzzy maples. The flowers surrounding you crowd in, tickling your feet, shining a blistering yellow onto your chin. The sun above flares and your neck swelters as you trail behind the seven boys.
The path to your secret hideout was never an easy one to make. Beautiful but not easy. In the past eight years of being friends, the nature surrounding your home and further out had reared its wild and boisterous head, making its mark with swollen muddy ditches and overgrown thickets of grass. You frequented it often, making the trek in under half an hour with flimsy boots, often exhausted from the school day. Sometimes you’d visit in the mornings by yourself, shuffling around chairs and cleaning up crumb-riddled plates from the last visit there; other times you’d head over in the evening and nap on the ground with your head in one of the boys laps as you mumbled incoherently about some classmate or teacher.
Your hideout was a camper van, plastered white, now chalky flakes. Its interior was large and had been hollowed out into two large rooms of a dusty kitchen and bedroom/living area via the drivers door. As you approached it, a sense of nostalgia filled you, memories rushing in chromatic frames of adventures played out within the confines of those few feet. Although overgrown, the ground beneath you still felt as pliant and kind as the first day you set foot.
You come to a halt as Taehyung steps forward and swings the loose driver door open, bowing in a way too childlike not to smile
“Ladies and gentleman, your accommodation for the day. Step right up, step right up.”
Following the boys, you find Taehyung waiting with the door open and you nod in return, climbing up, sliding across the driver's seat and landing in the main space of the van. Grabbing the nearest seat, you press yourself up against the backrest and kick off your shoes, feeling a sting evolve then dissipate around the clutches of your ankles. It’s not long before Namjoon joins you to your right, and Yoongi sits idly to your left. Jungkook, Taehyung and Jimin form a small triangle in the centre of the room and Jin and Hoseok move over to the kitchen to presumably look for snacks. You wiggle your toes and smile at the boys around you. The past few hours had made the morning feel like a distant memory and you, yet again, made a note in your brain that reminded you how important these guys were to your mental stability.
“Jellied eels and gummy worms!” Hoseok cheers, bouncing into the room alongside Jin with two large packets in tow.
“Eels?..” Namjoon mouths next to you.
“Worms?” Yoongi resounds.
“They’re gummy sweets guys! Did you even have a childhood or did your life only just begin when you met me?” Jin smirks, throwing himself on an armchair opposite you and leaning over to grab a can of soda from the seat underneath him.
“My life began when I started eating these sweets.” Hoseok hums, a gummy worm dangling from the creases of his lips.
“Let’s have one!” Whines Jungkook, and pulls Hoseok down to share the sweets out with everyone in the room, nodding at Jin to join along and share his cans of soda too.
❀
You met the boys halfway through your Primary Education, age 11. Being a socially distant and independent child, you had struggled to befriend anyone the past few years and were blissfully ready to roll through yet another year alone. You hadn't known any different, and expected you were better off not having friends. There were certain days however, when an unfamiliar sense of loneliness would strike you and you’d struggle all the next week in school.
Moving up to the next grade required an induction into the class. It was inevitable that part of the induction would include ‘ice-breakers’. Playing hide-and-seek and musical-chairs didn’t seem productive or fairly educational, but it helped you spot your tribe from the rest. You had found that, moving into a different set in a different year had meant everyone in class was new to you. It was exciting, but it made you feel yet again like a tiny fish in a giant pond.
It wasn’t long before six boys, during a particularly boisterous game of dodge ball, had come to your side to make a wall around you and pellet balls back at the opposing team. You were lost for words, but stayed planted as you watched them continue to protect you and even smile back occasionally with ease. After the game, following onto lunch, they invited you to sit with them at their table. They individually introduced themselves, stretching out hands to shake with yours before moving back to demolishing their lunches. Although unfamiliar for you, you felt comfortable around these boys, and it wasn’t long before you felt secure to approach their table on rough days and simply slump straight down into your chair.
Jin, Jimin, Jungkook, Taehyung, Yoongi and Hoseok had met the first day of the grade you were starting. You’d almost known them as long as they had known each other; the boys meeting by coincidence at the local convenience store to buy evening snacks a few days before they had met you during the dodge ball game. A band of misfits, as disinterested in cliques and gossip as you were, it made sense that you stuck together for the rest of your primary and secondary education.
Jin was the first for you to have a full interaction with. On a late autumn finish from school, just after the ‘razzle-dazzle fair’, Jin had ran up to as you were exiting the school gates and offered to walk you home. You had been friends for a month now and Jin admitted that he lived quite close to you and would be more than happy to take you to your house. You had agreed, and in the short 20 minute walk home, you had been able to laugh and socialize more than you had ever done before. Jin was the eldest of the group and a social spark. Alongside Taehyung, he often led the group's conversations and was unapologetically unabashed regarding his strong looks and vibrant personality. It was refreshing to see and often annoyed the group at times where they all wanted silence, yet could still hear Jin nattering away behind them. After a few years knowing and maturing with Jin, you could see the layer underneath his visage that was insecure and ashamed. It was something you saw in yourself, yet you made no qualms regarding the way you held yourself in very low regards. As an only child, Jin was like an older brother to you; always the one to continue to walk you home when the others couldn’t. Even up to the age you were now.
You next spent time individually with Jimin, Jungkook and Taehyung. With Jin, Hoseok and Yoongi out on a school trip one day, the other three were desperate to get out and made a pact with you to go out nature foraging at the end of the school day. You all kept your promise, and on a foggy October, you made your way out into the stretch of hills where you lived only to discover the abandoned camper van you now sat in. Aside from an empty fridge, and musky air, the van’s interior was the same and you spent the whole evening dusting it out and running around, planning different ways in which you could now brand this vehicle as the groups own. The three of them were the most youthful and bonded to each other like glue. On future nights in the camper van, you’d sit outside to catch a breath, only to spot them swinging their legs off the roof, clanging the sides with their feet and giggling to each other. Other times you’d wake up in your sleeping bag and wriggle over to hear three soft snores as they practically piled atop one another like little caterpillars. Jungkook was the youngest of the group, and truly the sweetest. He enjoyed physical contact, and playing with your hair including the way you’d hug him back after he’d had a long day. Although close, the boys weren’t always around to protect each other, and you’d found yourself in many situations, standing up for him as he was bullied by older kids or others who simply envied his ability to be good at practically everything. Jimin, at times, had also found himself being picked on, but unlike Jungkook, could stand up for himself and sassily retort back. Jimin was a cuddle bug and enjoyed poking fun at your lack of ability to stay still during a shoulder massage without becoming ticklish. He loved showing you new routines he’d learnt taking ballet class in the city, and often shared his experience of the bright lights, making you fear them even more. Taehyung was the same in regards to his songwriting and desperate need to learn guitar or piano but never being able to pick between the two. Taehyung was soft-spoken and euphonious in tone, and was the first to help you study for your music test, age 16, in hopes your voice would be up to parr for the grades you wanted.
Soon after the other four boys- nearing Christmas - you had met up with Hoseok. He’d taken up a job as a newspaper boy and had started doing rounds on your street. When cycling past your door, he’d seen you reading on your patio out front and asked if you wanted to join him on his rounds by hopping on the back of his bike and holding on very tightly. Like a Ghibli character, you joined him, and felt the wind and his contagious laugh whip at your hair as you raced from street to street, paper in hand. Hoseok was the blistering, smiling sun of the group. He was the one to supply the snacks during group meetups and the hand to drag you towards your next adventure. As you got older, and your past had started to further distill itself into you, he had been there to listen and to give you that serotonin when you needed it.
Yoongi was the last to fully introduce himself. You’d bumped into him at the annual Christmas Market and shaken off the snow that was starting to pale on your cheeks and nose. He’d felt bad that you had attended the market alone, but you had assured him that your parents were just around the corner and had let you run loose. He’d taken your woolly mitten hand and pulled you around the stalls of warm chestnuts and wood-carved geese, gums and teeth gelled into a smile the whole time. Yoongi was never one to flaunt his emotions, or smile when he didn’t need to. You felt special because he reserved all his excitement and joy for the group, hiding that side of himself from his schoolmates as if he were a stoic block of pure ice. He didn’t like to admit it, but he was protective over you: watching you mature and watching boys ogle you, hitting back out at them, saying you were nobody's object but your own. He was one of the few who taught you how to own your pride and to stand up for yourself when you needed to.
It was the 5th of January the next year when Namjoon entered the class; four months into your friendship with the boys. Namjoon was a transfer student from the city nearby and had moved schools to better accommodate his parents, now fully divulged in the industry of agriculture. At 5 feet, he stood awkwardly, his lanky form swamped in a cardigan, tie and trousers, a small badge of a book crested to his right. He bowed as he introduced himself and shuffled toward the back window seat of the class, eyes to the floor the entire lesson and entire day until dismissed for the day with the rest of his raucous classmates. A week later, he had found himself paired in a science group project with the six of you and had struggled not to look up as Jin poured his packet of mentos into a bottle of coke and watched it stream over a miserable Yoongi. It wasn’t hard then to feel a part of the mischief as he banded to the rest of you in the principal's office and subsequently joined you on a walk over to your secret hideout, officially knighted a group member after witnessing and accepting Jin’s disorderly act in front of the entire class.
Namjoon became the group's glue: a peace-maker and divulger in clumsy behaviour, the middle man in acts of rebellion and acts of peace. He would settle any argument entailing stolen food and encourage any efforts to liven the mood. Around the rest of you, he made no secret of feeling like an outsider all his life and, as you grew older, you only found more and more stories of his you could relate yourself to. Namjoon made sense to you. He didn’t always tolerate the group's behaviour, or understand his peers, but he understood and accepted you and you often found that that was enough.
But you stumbled on your soda as you felt his presence beside you in the camper van. Something had been missing. A lingering need for his legs to reside an inch closer, or his forehead to skim the crest of yours. A want for his voice to your ear like an ungodly prayer or his lips to plant a halo on your own.
The way you had matured had only made it worse, not better. You had hoped you simply harbored a strong interest in his psyche, but the older you grew, the less you could ignore the fire that never left your stomach. Looking over at all the boys now, it was obvious that you’d never forget. In seven long years, they had all grown and the blaze in your gut was a whore to be sated.
Thick limbs in tight shorts and muscles rippling under skin, their physiques had swelled from boys into men and your eyes were traitors. No longer the deviants of school-youth, their gluttony was peaking, something that grew at lengths in their trousers and peaks on their chests. The testosterone was tangible and its thick air was making it impossible to ignore your attraction toward Namjoon.
But whether you could handle the possible rejection or sudden acceptance of love was another ordeal. Could your past ever be healed by the vines of attraction, or were you too scared to ever let another person in again?
❀
A few hours later and you were in the small kitchen, playing with dust bunnies and watching the sun sink down the hills. The boys were still in the main room, talking about their plans for the spring break. You could hear them discussing family vacations and trips to visit friends in the city. They were buzzing about expanding the camper van and joking about making it into a bachelor pad for their new-found love lifes. You listen in, but hear no noise from Namjoon in the conversation. It had felt like, as the years had passed, the boys were moving forward, finding new hobbies and friends and succeeding at becoming adults. You saw the joy in their eyes at their success and you were proud of them, but you knew Namjoon and you were lagging behind.
All these years, Namjoon hadn’t found any new friends, he hadn’t moved out to the city to discover something new, he’d just grown in height. Of course he’d matured, mind and body and become even more undeniably magnetic, but - like you - he also wondered where his life would go. It was a silent thing you seldom mentioned but knew you shared. It was during those nights when he’d tell you his fears and the little life he dreamed of, running a bookshop and flower garden with the one he loved that you knew you wanted to be that part of his story.
Turning from the window, you walk back into the other room to join the boys. Namjoon looks up and sidles over to make space for you to sit between him and Hoseok. You kneel against the soft burgundy rug of the floor and feel Namjoon move closer to you as he closes the circle, his hand nudging yours to check if you are okay. You look up, meet his soft eyes and smile, reassuring him that your thoughts and feelings are at least somewhat intact and he drops your gaze, turning back to the boys to listen in to their conversation.
“So..the bachelor pad would have a super king bed?” Yoongi questions.
“I think a super king is a bit too optimistic for this space, maybe just a double.” Taehyung chimes.
“Not if we add a conservatory extension to the end of the van.” Jimin mumbles.
“Listen, i think this conversation is getting a little bit too authentic. This is just an idea guys, don’t lose your heads.” Yoongi responds.
“Well..when i reap the benefits of my entrepreneurial enterprise, i’ll give you some cash for this little startup of ours.” Jin laughs, slapping the knees of Jimin and Taehyung who clearly seem to be the fuel to this idea.
You chuckle and gather your knees underneath you to cross your legs, “I love your ingenuity, but I want no part of this idea. I’m afraid, i’m out”
“Our startup’s doomed then.” Jimin wails “Every group needs a lady to orchestrate the rest of us, otherwise we’ll just run a riot.”
“He’s right you know.” Namjoon whispers, “I think you’d make a great CEO..”
His tone is easily distracting and you falter for a second before laughing off his words, “Thanks guys. In that case, give me 50% of the company and we have a deal!”
“Just shake her hand Jimin.” Yoongi whines and gets to his feet, “Alright guys, I’m beat. I’ll grab the sleeping bags; who put them away last?”
“The far left cupboard in the kitchen!” Jungkook says, and you turn to watch as Yoongi begins to draw out the long sleeping sacks from the cupboard and drag them through the room to where you’re seated. You tilt your head in question to Namjoon as Yoongi returns with the second lot of bags, unaware you were staying overnight with all of them.
He perks up and, making the connection to your thoughts, starts with a comment to the boys, “Hey, who let y/n know? Or did you all forget to tell her?”
“You know we’ve left all that kind of stuff to you nowadays.” Taehyung smirks, yet again sending a knowing wink your way.
Namjoon sighs, “So, while you were playing with dust-bunnies out there, we were planning to stay the night. I’m sorry i didn’t let you know, the conversation just drifted on and i got a bit distracted..”
“That’s okay..”
“Is it? Are you up for sleeping over with us?” Jungkook smiles.
You feel a sudden knot in your throat. ”Y-yeah, I..um..”
“It’s alright if you have plans, there’s no pressure to stay with us!”
The wedge in your throat tightens and you struggle to hide the tide of panic that you feel is approaching you. The boys seem to notice your sudden change in demeanour and they all stop, Yoongi dropping his bag and kneeling down with you to make sure you’re okay.
“Hey, hey. It’s alright, what’s going through your head?” He asks, Namjoon suddenly a rock beside you.
“I - “ Visions come swarming through your mind, too sudden and harsh to ignore.
*❀
You hadn’t slept over with the guys for a few years, not since your exams had ramped up their intensity and started to steal all of your time. Back then, you had less thoughts of your past, and lived life with more ease, thinking of the future and not dwelling on previous experiences that were desperate to hold you back. Yes, you were still nervous at times, falling asleep amongst a group of men and trusting them to guard you, but you were a lot less anxiety-riddled then you were now.
In the past two years, your childhood had come flooding back to you in thicker and more residual pieces than before. Moments you thought you’d forget, or that your friends would help heal were now naked shadows, following you around day and night. You were scared it was only going to get worse, the images of non-consensual acts filling your mind and your body, exposed to all of them.
It was hard because - sitting here now - you loved your friends, and you wanted to trust them, but the wall of trauma that had built itself around you seemed too impossible to break in just one go. Even though you knew they weren’t going to harm you, your mind couldn’t stop from seeing a man and a dark room and going, ‘No. I need to escape’.
You’d opened up to them in the past, and briefly told them a more closeted overview of what had happened to you. They had listened, and of course sheltered you in their concern and love. They wanted you to feel like you didn’t have to be afraid around them. And it took a while to even just let them hug you or squish beside you on a group movie night in. They’d give you all the time you needed, and you’d be patient as they understood and exercised the boundaries around you that they firmly respected.
*❀
“I’m sorry, I..I just had a moment.” You exhale, the fog now waning in your mind. The boys watch you steadily and you feel Yoongi and Namjoon have since moved back in distance to give you the physical space you need.
“We’d all really love you to join us! We’ve missed out on so much time since our exams have started and we really miss our sleepovers.” Jin smiles, and you nod back, breathing another shaky exhale and beginning to play with your hands.
Noticing your discomfort, Namjoon turns round and silently hushes the boys out of the room momentarily. They seem to pick up on his gestural hints and, one-by-one, move out of the room into the now pink half-light of the outdoors.
He shuffles to sit facing you and adjusts his eye-line to meet yours as you slowly look up from the floor. His tawny eyes shed all the colours of sunset and he frowns as he notices the panic knitted in your features.
“I know what this is about, and i want to let you know that you don’t have to be afraid. I don’t know what it’s like to be in your shoes or the fear you must be feeling right now, but the least i can do is let you know that here, with us, in my presence, we will cloak and protect you.”
He adjusts his position on the floor and leans over to clasp at your hand. Heart in your throat, you open up the love lines on your palm to him and lace your fingers with his. You suddenly feel a fire burn and a dread douse all at the same time in your stomach. He is the one that makes you truly feel safe, and now your head is swarming with the essence that is him.
You were never one to pick favourites, take one friend for granted, or to even have friends, but Namjoon had always been the exception to those rules. He would always stay a little longer, listen a little closer, and it just made you want him a little more.
He was the one who gave you your first romance novel, helped you grow your first ever rose, taught you how to Waltz on your tip-toes atop the highest hill of your village. Even when the past would rare its lethal mane and roar, you knew that Namjoon would be a pillar to fall back on.
“Okay, Joon.” You whisper, the seldom used nickname slipping from your lips and casting dimples all over his cheeks.
❀
An hour later and the boys had been summoned back. They were scattered in a circle around the main room floor, half of them balled into their sleeping bags like squirrels in hibernation. The air was cooler and the sky now a tenebrous brown, small stars floating in the sky like lost astronauts. You took a sharp breath and felt the cool of the twilight wind sweep through your body. Your eyelids felt heavy and you felt almost certain that now was the right time to fall asleep. The day, since the morning, had recovered itself, and everything seemed too tranquil and good to be true. Without wanting to ruin it, you were ready to say goodnight to the moon and reflect on what a good time you’d had before a new day.
“Mmh, goodnight moon. Sleep tight.” You mumble and lean back, pulling your body into the cocoon of your insulated bag. You adjust your sleep shorts, and turn onto your side, tucking strands of loose hair behind your ears before closing your eyes.
“Are you going now?” You hear a voice ask.
You slip one eye open to see Namjoon, now turned toward you, doe eyed and pouty. A lazy smile tugs at your lips, “Not if you don’t want me to..”
“It-it’s not that.” He blushes, “I just wanted to make sure you were feeling comfortable..”
“I am. Thank you for talking with me earlier.”
“You should be thanking yourself. You’re the one who’s so fearless all the time.”
“Am i really that good at hiding it?”
“You’re stronger than you know.”
“I’ll keep a note of that under the list of ‘compliments Namjoon has given me’.”
He smirks, “Want a few more to add to that list?” and you feel your cheeks stain pink.
“Maybe another day Joon.” You quickly switch the subject and twist around, “Goodnight.”
“Y/n, wait.”
You turn back to him, “What is it?”
“I. I didn’t have many plans for Spring Break but i'm visiting my father and i was wondering if..maybe you’d want to come with me?..”
“To visit your father?” You question, wondering how on earth you’d be able to contribute to conversation with Namjoon’s father, let alone not look like ‘the girlfriend’ to him.
“It’s not what you think. My dad has an amazing botanical garden outside his house that stretches acres across. I thought, if you didn’t have any plans, you’d want to study the flowers with me and spend some more time in nature.”
You're amazed with his thoughtfulness, a reminder that Namjoon’s split parents now owned a menagerie and a farm, the first belonging to his father. Aside from catching up with the group and reviving certain sparks that had faltered, you were more than open to spending all of your time in Namjoon’s presence. You imagined picking Azelia’s with him and brushing cobwebs from daffodils. You pictured long, warm evenings amongst a patch of lavender and early mornings, tilting buttercups under your chin until they shone a luminous yellow. It sounded too much fun to even fathom, and you had to bite your tongue from sounding to sudden or enthusiastic about the whole ordeal. You just resound -
“That sounds nice. I’d be happy to go.”
And with that, you feel another chapter of your life unravel underneath your feet.

Curious. What do you mean by Dust till Dawn going against it's Characters? I know I have my own feelings, or confusion, with how they left Kate's story.
From Dusk Till Dawn effectively character assassinated every single character in the very last episode including Kate Fuller. No one is acting like themselves in that series finale it's like some deranged fanfic writer came aboard and hijacked the show while no one was looking. If you thought 15x18 & 15x19 of Supernatural were bad and believe me they really are; those episodes are minorly salvageable against the slaughterhouse that Dusk 3x10 was. It utterly contradicts and ignores everything the show put forward in all 3 seasons. I will never watch that episode again.
I'll first explain what that piece of shit did to the show's lead protagonists, the Gecko brothers. Regardless of how you or anyone else feels about Supernatural's series finale; that show was a saint to Sam and Dean's storyline beginning to end compared to how From Dusk Till Dawn definitively butchered Richie and Seth. I'm sad saying this because Zane Holtz and DJ Controna are outstanding as these characters. I freaking love their chemistry man, it's a great rival to J2! They're the badass dark clones of the Winchesters. Their arc starts out fascinatingly complex because they went from cold-blooded criminals/bad guys and meanwhile during their escape over the Mexican border with this hostage family the audience is told pretty quick by Professor Aiden Tanner that the Geckos are destined to become these foresworn warriors The Mayan Hero Twins in an ancient prophecy (based on real Mesoamerican lore) who battle the Underworld. So right away the show is telling us ahead where Seth and Richie are suppose to end up in their journey and when you introduce a storyline this big I expect a satisfying payoff.
At the end of season 1, Richie Gecko is *SPOILER ALERT* transformed into a culebra (snake-vampire) while Seth Gecko remains human symbolizing their night and day Hero Twin counterparts from the legend. And they're separated in the first half of season 2 where both try to navigate this new supernatural world they've stumbled on individually. What they find, no different than the Winchesters, is that neither can function properly without the other making their destiny all the more valid. That season is practically constructed like their swan song to the criminal lifestyle since the brothers are meant to become more than crooks; and since Richie's a vampire they can't ever go back to basics. Their adopted father aka uncle Eddie actually says the line "this is my swan song" in 2x07 to Seth and Richie in reference to their final heist together which is not a coincidence. That's the writers telling us that the Gecko Brothers' role in the show is going to shift from anti-heroes to heroes very soon. Eddie and Kate Fuller's fates in S2 act as the primary catalysts for this transition taking shape in the finale.
Going into season 3 it's business as usual for the boys until the prophecy of the twins officially rips a hole in the damn universe via demon queen Amaru. Who's now possessing Kate. Throughout that season Seth and Richie embark on a journey of heroism; find themselves battling monsters, actually saving civilians and dealing with their own personal demons (guilt and remorse over past sins). That year is presented as their redemption arc and final phase into their new role. No one ever tells them about their destiny (despite most of the other characters knowing) but we as the audience are already aware as we watch the brothers in action. The best episode is without a doubt 3x06 the crown jewel of From Dusk Till Dawn because it's about overcoming the darkness inside. And who best represents that than Richie; the show's most important central character whom began the series as a deadly clairvoyant criminal into the tortured vampire hero struggling with his own humanity. Now I won't spoil the whole episode for anyone who hasn't seen it or the show in general but it's an incredible moment of character development for both the Gecko brothers. Not only does it cement their powerful bond it's the episode that defines who these two are once and for all. The ones who lead the battle between good and evil; keep the balance of light and darkness. One day I plan to do an entire analysis of that episode because it's so fucking brilliant and shot so incredibly eerie at the same time 😁
You want to know what 3x10 does to these characters? It shits all over their entire storyline and pisses away THREE FUCKING SEASONS of character development. Just flushes it all down the toilet rendering everything they've ever done up to that point completely pointless! Their destiny which is the WHOLE POINT OF THE SHOW is suddenly dropped last minute and the Geckos hit reset on their former criminal escapades; dragging Kate along with them. I hate that finale with the fire of a thousand suns for what it does to Richie and Seth 😡
Moving on to Carlos Madrigal. He is the best villain character in the history of show villains hands down. I can actually say that without blinking. Wilmer Valderama is phenomenal, he steals the show as Carlos. He's is so freaking awesome, evil and badass! I just want to keep seeing this man tear things apart while being the sexy asshole he is 😈For all intents and purposes I don't want to spoil his whole storyline on the show for those following me in case they're interested. But what I will say is 3x10 destroys this character; so don't watch it if you want to keep the memory of who he was alive. I'm actually depressed over what was done to him as much as I feel sorry for Wilmer having to perform that shitty script. It's laughable in a very bad way. Gotta hand it to the writers and showrunners of FDTD they certainly knew how to humiliate their best characters in this series. Carlos basically goes from charismatic yet lethal Hannibal Lecter to a very captain obvious Gandolf caricature. Yah you heard that right, it's really fucking sad.
Next we have Freddie Gonzalez; the audience's avatar into the series. This character is connected to everyone on the show for a reason because of the crucial part he plays in this universe. The "Peacekeeper" destined to police the line between the supernatural world from the human world. In the beginning he's a Texas deputy on a quest to avenge the murder of his father figure/partner Earl McGraw via the Gecko Brothers. But once he steps in that territory of monsters there's no going back. And FDTD repeatedly tells him and the audience this in the first 2 seasons. But then 3x10 pulls the ultimate fuckery by giving him the most cliched, nonsensical hallmark ending effectively cancelling out his entire purpose in the series. He instantly forgets that he ever cared about Kate, watching her bleed out on the ground, then leaves the Geckos high and dry rushing his family (who isn't injured) to the hospital. And he stays there while the battle continues 😣
Kate and Scott Fuller OMG words cannot describe my anger over what was done to them so I'll make it fast. I'll begin with Kate the bright light and heart of the series. Her arc in the first two seasons is excellent. It's emotionally driven because she begins as an ordinary girl in broken yet seemingly-happy family to a young woman finding her way around the supernatural world maintaining her faith and moral compos while trying to help her brother after he's *SPOILER ALERT* been turned into a vampire; paralleling the Geckos's situation. Scott being only a 16 year old kid, like Richie, struggles immensely after his transformation; searching for meaning as a cursed individual and coping with his duality. He was already different to begin with so being a vampire adds some interesting layers to his character.
Btw Kate plays a vital role in Richie and Seth's lives, though in my opinion is more strongly connected to Richie. The show even goes as far as developing the early glimpses of a romantic arc between Kate and Richie (seeing as they kiss twice) with angst at the end of season 2 that is never resolved. You want to know why it wasn't? Not only does season 3 mute Kate's voice and agency but 3x10 ruins her character and demolishes her whole arc with Richie (who spent all of season 3 trying to save her) at the last second due to fan pressure of those who shipped her with Seth. They don't exchange one word nor barely look at one another it's like seasons 1&2 never happened. This is the biggest fuck you to fans of these characters I've ever witnessed in a series and they did my boys Adam and Michael so dirty in Supernatural. Poor Scott whom the show enjoyed kicking around all season barely gets a thing to do in that series finale either than listening to his sister and Seth gab about prom lol. Yah you heard me I'm not making this shit up I swear. Then he gets abandoned by Kate while she goes off to be a bank robber with the character assassinated versions of Seth and Richie. How extraordinary 😖
Santanico Pandemonium is really the only character in the series who manages to get out unscathed. HOWEVER her arc is handled very poorly beginning to end. They set up an arc between her and Seth that also goes absolutely nowhere. Give her zero closure with Richie whom she sired, dated and used in S2. And randomly throw her in a scene with Kate that makes no fucking sense after these two had nothing to do with one another all series. On top of that Santanico is barely in season 3 so by the time the show wraps her arc feels incomplete.
Other characters go missing that no one notices, the new bad guy whom they've set up at the end is just left hanging. And Richie Gecko, you know the show’s other lead, is horribly sidelined after 3x06 to make way for the Seth Gecko solo show. When I say FDTD series finale is bad I mean it's really fucking terrible and blasphemous.

SPN has so much spinoff potential and so much canon to work with, it's such a waste that none of it's getting used. This post is just all of my spinoff ideas, I'll apologize in advance because it is VERY long.
Wayward Sisters, obviously. There are so many possible storylines to work with, so many stories to tell. I'd really love to see some Charlie, Eileen, or Krissy Chambers cameos. I think that Charlie and Claire would get along really well (just read this post). Rowena is another character that I think could easily be worked into the canon. She could teach the girls all kinds of magic and be the fun wine aunt that spoils the girls on their birthdays. I don't think that Claire would like her very much, but, Rowena and Alex would probably get along just fine. How much I need this in my life: 1000000000000000000000000/10 when I heard that this idea had been tossed out I was so angry. Why doesn't this exist?
Men of Letters prequel that's mostly set in the bunker. This show could really expand on the canon lore and give us some more background on the Men of Letters, as well as any other similar/rival organizations that were around before the main show's time. The Men of Letters have so much story potential for a spin-off; corrupt leadership, new monsters, other organizations, expanding the MoL to outside the U.S. Episodes could be in a monster-of-the-week (MOTW) format, starting and ending with the Man of Letters the case is assigned to making notes in his journal or case file or talking about the case, as well as the overall season arcs. Episodes would be titled by their case number, i.e S1 E1 Case No. 1925-4, etc How much I need this in my life: 1000000/10, the supernatural/historical drama combo would be absolutely stunning.
A series focusing on all of the alternate timelines and universes, both the ones mentioned in the main show and ones just randomly created for an episode. There are infinite possibilities. Each episode would be in a MOTW format, but with different versions of Sam and Dean. The HunterCorp universe, Jared and Jensen from the French Mistake, a universe where their names are switched, a universe where Dean went to college and was the one with the demon blood powers, a universe where they drive a Mustang instead of the Impala, a universe where Sam isn't scared of clowns. I could go on, but I'm going to stop myself here. How much I need this in my life: 9/10 I think it would be pretty funny, but it's not my best idea.
A Bobby and Rufus spin-off where they talk about cases they worked on together or with other hunters, but the stories are told similarly to Tall Tales. It's the same story but told from different points of view depending on who's talking. I wish we'd gotten to see more of Bobby and Rufus because I think those two are hilarious and really think that this could be funny, even if it was just a web series with twenty-minute episodes. How much I need this in my life: 10/10, I love Bobby and Rufus and I think that they have a lot of interesting hunting stories to tell.
GHOSTFACERS GHOSTFACERS GHOSTFACERS. How much I need this in my life: 100000000000000000000000/10, I love the Ghostfacers. That's my whole idea.
A Jack-centric show that's almost a political drama. Jack is the ruler of heaven and is constantly being manipulated by angels, demons, and Death herself. He just wants to make an afterlife paradise, but power-hungry angels won't leave him alone. Remember that Jack is very young and trusting by nature, so there is a lot of potential for disaster if he gets goaded into doing something, like making new universes or ending existing ones. Cas is a main character and he does his best to protect Jack, but he has to be careful to not seem overprotective/like another manipulator or Jack won't trust him either. I have no idea if I'm making any sense, but shoutout to me if I am. For some reason, I've always thought that heaven would be an interesting setting for a spin-off, and those angels are pretty similar to power-hungry politicians. How much I need this in my life: 800/10, I would totally watch this.
A very short series that just destroys the canon finale. Twelve episodes, detailing the storylines that were ignored or destroyed by Carry On. E1: Rescuing Cas from the Empty and he and Dean have a long talk about their ~feelings~. They kiss, and for the first time, Dean’s mind is free of doubt about whether or not anyone could ever love all of him. E2: Eileen returns. She says nothing when she sees Dean and Cas holding hands, just raises her eyebrow and smiles knowingly. Some excellent movie night content. E3: 1 year later. Sam and Eileen’s wedding. Dean and Cas aren’t legally married, but their matching gold rings are very prominently shown. It isn’t mentioned. The wedding is almost canceled because of the rain, but with a wave of Jack’s hand the clouds disappear and the birds start to sing. E4: Sam and Eileen have moved out of the Bunker. Cas finally convinces Dean to downsize, so they find a little house in Lawrence and settle down. Cas works as a special ed teacher. Dean works as a mechanic. Miracle loves the backyard but makes sure to stay away from the beehives in the back corner. E5: Sam and Eileen’s twins, Mary and Maura, are born. Dean and Cas love their nieces, and Jack loves them too. He doesn’t know what to call himself, so they settle on Uncle and call it good. E6: Deaths. They all die old. Cas’s vessel has aged, but he can’t die, so when Dean finally passes away in his sleep, Cas scatters his ashes in the woods and disappears, ascending to heaven, to spend eternity with Dean. The closing scene is a dark screen, with the whoosh of wings and a soft “Hello, Dean.” OK. That was a long one. My apologies. How much I need this in my life: 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000/10. I would reach nerdvana thirty seconds into episode one.
Another spinoff of that idea is just...Dean and Cas living a normal life. Short episodes. Cas goes to the grocery store. Dean drags Cas to a horror movie fan convention. Cas meets a roomba. How much I need this in my life: I can’t type enough zeroes to express it.
Campbell prequel that focuses on Mary and her childhood. Mary being raised as a hunter but not being allowed on hunts. Mary rushing home to finish her chemistry homework so she can help her dad track a nest of vampires moving east. Mary missing her prom to help Samuel on a hunt. Mary trying to keep her real life secret from John, a man she knows loves the parts of her he knows about. Mary always being an outsider, the kindest and most beautiful girl in her class, but so slow to trust and quick to speak that everyone is afraid to be her friend. Mary is a character that has the potential a lot more development, for twelve seasons she’s the burning martyr in every Winchester’s imagined paradise. She deserves more. How much I need this in my life: 11/10, Mary isn’t my favorite character but I would die for her.
Gabriel spin-off. That’s it, that’s the idea. How much I need this in my life: 10000000/10, Gabriel is a character that we don’t know a lot about so there are so many possible directions for a story about him to go.
Show set in the SPN universe that doesn’t really interact with the main show’s canon. It’s about two cops in the 30s that become hunters by accident. After investigating the apparent suicide of a hunter in their small town, they become enthralled by her library, filled with books about ghosts and vampires. They pour over her journals on their own time, fascinated by what they’re reading. They get to know the hunter through her writings, her accounts of her hunts and travels. Eventually, a nest of vampires settles in the town and the two put their newfound knowledge to the test. This show would just be based on canon lore, there wouldn’t be any mention of the Winchesters or other main characters, although a few MoL team-ups is definitely a possibility. The two become quite a team, tracking werewolf backs on bulletin boards in their basements and hoarding rock salt. How much I need this in my life: 89/10, I think this could be really interesting and I am a sucker for historical hunters.
Speaking of historical hunters-Samuel Colt prequel. Cowboys, vampires, cowpires. Hunting in the wild west, galloping across the prairie chasing a pack of werewolves. This show could also tell us a lot about how different types of monsters spread across the U.S. Ghosts will go anywhere people go, but what about vampires? Shapeshifters? Ghouls? What was it like to hunt without technology to help with research? The hunters in this series would be the authors of the journals that modern hunters use every day. They’re the ones that tested tracking and trapping methods. Again, no idea if this is making sense, but I think that a supernatural western would be really awesome and would expand/substantiate the canon lore. How much I need this in my life: 1000000000000000000000000000000/10, I love cowboys and I love Supernatural. This is literally the best thing that could ever happen to me.
Crowley. I want to know more about him. A series that tells us all about Fergus Roderick MacLeod, starting with when he was born in Scotland and ending with his death in All Along the Watchtower. We know that Rowena was his mother, that he was a tailor, that he sold his soul for an extra three inches ~down there~, and that he was a terrible dad. I want to know more about his childhood, about the people he made deals with, about how he became king of the crossroads and of Hell. Crowley was a very interesting character that was abused by the story. I want to know more about him. How much I need this in my life: 10000000000000000000000000000000000000/10, I really do love Crowley and I would watch this a thousand times over.
Final idea: MOTW only. No season arc, no overall storyline. New hunters every episode, from all different times, from over the world. All kinds of monsters. One episode in Victorian England, the next in 1990s Los Angeles. Very few recurring characters, if any. The recurring characters would be the Bobby Singers of the world; the lore guys that you call when you need help. Each new character has their own style, own car, own music, own personality. The show could have some a m a z i n g guest stars because they’d only appear in a few episodes. There are so many possibilities for episodes, even if they weren’t full length. How much I need this in my life: 100000/10, I love MOTW episodes and would really like to get to know the characters. It would be very easy to write one-off fanfics for this show, and also very easy to introduce this show’s characters into Supernatural’s canon.
You made it to the end!!!!!!!! That’s all I have for now. Sorry for writing so much, I just can’t stop thinking about SPN and all of the wasted stories.

Note
Can you do a reddie secret admirer one shot? I’ve been starved for one and I love your work
“Gimme, let me see that,” Bev moved forward and ripped the note out of Eddie’s hands, bringing it up to her face to read what it said. “This is some adorable stuff, Eddie. Do you have any idea who it might be?” She passed the note back to him before leaning against Ben. All of the Losers were gathered in the clubhouse, hanging out post school to regenerate.
Eddie shook his head, “I really have no idea. I don’t know anyone who might be able to write nice notes like this and I also have no clue who would...put this much effort into something like this for me.” He shrugged, slipping the note back and forth between his fingers. “It’s probably a joke, anyway. One day they’ll reveal themselves and it’ll be this huge joke.”
It was that sentence that made Richie perk up from the hammock, the comic he was reading falling into his lap, “Woah, Eds. You don’t know that. This person might genuinely be into you. We can also collectively agree that it’s a guy? No girl would be able to write shit like that.”
“Exactly, that’s exactly why I know this whole thing is a huge joke!” Eddie snapped, whipping his head around to Richie. “The last thing I need is for you to start...making fun of me for this. Sometimes your jokes are well timed and appreciated and other times, like now, everyone would just prefer it if you kept your mouth shut.” Around him, the loser's jaws dropped but none of them said anything as Eddie grabbed his stuff and left the clubhouse, the note scrunched up in his hand.
He was halfway home when Eddie heard the familiar crunching of Richie’s shoes following behind him. Thanks to his long legs, Richie was able to catch up to Eddie quite quickly, which was annoying when he wanted nothing more than to get away from his friend. “Eds, hey, wait up!” He sounded out of breath, as though he had been running and that made Eddie turn around, his eyes narrow. “Thank you, jeez!”
“What do you want Richie? Can’t you take a hint that I want to be alone?” Eddie snapped, crossing his arms across his chest. “Go back to the clubhouse, I’m fine. I just want to be alone okay?” He hoped that would be enough to satisfy Richie and he’d turn around to head back, but he wasn’t in luck as Richie stayed put. “Look, I’m sorry I snapped at you, I’m just...I know this is a joke, but is it really stupid of me to want it to be real?”
Richie’s jaw dropped just a little and he ran his hand through his hair, “Eds, of course it’s not. I wasn’t making fun of you back there when I suggested it might not be a joke. I was serious. We’re not in middle school anymore, we’re High School seniors, people have grown up and you...you’re a catch Eds. Any guy would be lucky to have you on their arm.”
Eddie bit his lip, looking from the ground and back to Richie, who was still staring at him. “You really think whoever sent these could be...actually into me?” He asked, voice quiet and Richie was quick to nod his head in agreement. “Why wouldn’t they tell me who they are though?”
At that, Richie chuckled a little, “Uh, well there’s loads of reasons Eds. Maybe he’s a little scared that you won’t feel the same once you find out who it is? Maybe you guys are friends already and he doesn’t want to ruin anything. I mean, you are friends with more than just the losers now. You have all the guys on the track team, and the student council.”
“You think it might be someone on the track team?” Eddie asked, suddenly feeling a lot more nervous about the whole situation. The guys on the track team, minus Ben, were all somewhat popular at their High School. “I mean...wow,” he ran a hand through his hair. “Thanks, Richie, you really made me feel a whole lot better about this thing.”
Richie smiled and if Eddie was paying attention, he would have realised it wasn’t a proper Richie smile. “No problem Eds,” he winked. “Anything for my favourite Loser.” He turned to look back towards the clubhouse. “I left my bag and everything back there, so I’m going to go get it. See you tomorrow?”
“Yeah,” Eddie nodded, taking a few steps back. “I’ll see you tomorrow, Richie.” He turned to head back, when he heard Richie call his name. He turned back around, a questioning expression on his face. “Yeah?”
Instead of saying anything, Richie just shook his head and waved Eddie away, “Nothing, see you later Eds.” He turned around and walked away. As he did, Eddie smiled at him, before he turned around, heading home.

“You gotta tell him, Rich,” Stan spoke from next to Richie as he rummaged through his locker. He had been putting secret admirer notes through Eddie’s locker for three months now, and every day he told Stan he would tell Eddie it was him. He never did, he always chickened out when he got even a little close. “If you don’t tell him, he’s really going to think it’s a game and you’ll lose your chance.”
Richie slammed his locker shut and rested his head against the metal, banging his head, “I know, fuck, I know. I just- what if he freaks out and I lose him? What if he laughs at me...or worse screams at me for making a joke out of him. It’s not a joke Stan, I love him!”
Stan raised an eyebrow and looked down to the note that was in Richie’s hand, “Don’t tell me you love him, you need to tell him that.” He looked up and over to where Eddie’s locker was, where he was talking to one of the guys on the track team. “I’d also be quick about it because to me, it looks like Danny is going to ask Eddie to prom.”
Eyes wide in panic, Richie whipped his head around to see that Danny was, in fact, talking to Eddie close and intimately. A feeling of jealousy, not that Richie would admit that, took over him and he grabbed his back, striding over to where his best friend was and wrapping an arm around his shoulder. “Morning Eds, what a beautiful day it is right?” He asked, before looking up at Danny who was looking awkward. “Oh, hey Danny.”
“Hey Richie,” Danny muttered. “Uh, sorry but Eddie and I were having a conversation, could we have a little privacy?” He asked and Richie scoffed, tightening his arm around Eddie’s shoulder. Eddie seemed to notice, as he looked up at him, frowning slightly.
“Anything you have to say to Eddie you can say to me, right Eds?” Richie asked, looking down at him to meet his curious gaze. Eddie frowned once more but nodded and turned back to Danny to hear what he had to say. “See? So ask away.”
Eddie sighed, “I’m sorry about him, you were about to say something, Danny? What’s up?” He was smiling now, as though he was waiting for Danny to say something life changing and the green eyed monster flared up in his stomach.
Danny glanced at Richie before he turned back to Eddie, “So I heard that you’ve been receiving notes in your locker from a secret admirer?” Richie froze up a little, but neither of them noticed as Eddie perked up. “Well, it’s me. I’m the one sending the notes and I was hoping I’d be able to take you out on Friday and if it all goes well, take you to Prom next week?”
The students in the hallway all stopped what they were doing and turned their attention to the three of them. Eddie’s eyes were wide and his cheeks red as he looked from his locker, to the note in his hand and then back to Danny. Richie, on the other hand, was frozen in shock. For the first time, he was lost for words. “I-” Eddie mumbled. “I guess?”
“Great, pick you up at seven?” Danny asked and Eddie weakly nodded his head, the happy look that was on his face now gone.
Just as Danny started to walk away, Eddie pulled out of Richie’s grasp to head to class and Richie finally found his words. “Wait, wait stop!” Richie yelled, making everyone turn their heads back to Richie; including Eddie and Danny. “No, no this is all wrong. Danny- you’re an asshole because you’re not the one sending Eddie those notes and the fact that you’d claim you were makes you even more of a douchebag.” A few whispers broke out in the hallway, but Richie wasn’t done. “Eds, Eddie. This- this isn’t how I wanted you to find out. I had a plan, I swear I did and it involved a lot more romance and a picnic and maybe roses.” He chuckled nervously and took a step closer to Eddie.
“What- what are you saying, Richie?” Eddie whispered, his eyes filled with tears. All Richie wanted to do was pull him into his arms and make everything okay again. God he wanted to punch Danny for being such a prick.
He took another step closer to Eddie, “It’s me,” he whispered. He pulled out the fresh note from his pocket and walked right up to Eddie with it, holding it out for the taking. “I’m your secret admirer. I’m the one who’s been sending you the notes and putting little gifts in your locker because, because I am so in love with you and I have done so for so long. I was just...scared to tell you because I didn’t want to lose you as my friend.”
Eddie’s eyes widened and he took the note from Richie, opening it up to read over the words; the words that Richie had been too scared to say out loud. Unknown to Stan and everyone else, Richie had in fact written his identity in that letter, finally believing it was time to come clean to Eddie.
Eds,
Fuck, you probably know it’s me now and this is letter number 15, I’m running out of paper so let’s just run with it. I love you. I love the way you laugh at all my jokes, I love the way you help me with the pranks without question. I love how much you just get me and I get you. I don’t know if you feel the same about me but god I hope you do. You’re amazing and you deserve the world, even if it isn’t with me.
If it is with me though, and you do feel the same, would you meet me on the field after school? I planned a little date for us, yes a date, so we can talk about all of this. It’s not a joke, I would never joke about this, not with you. I hope to see you there, Eddie Spaghetti.
Love, Richie
Letting out a breath, Eddie looked up from the letter with tears trailing down his cheeks. Richie was sure that Eddie was about to turn around and leave him, and his heart, in the dust. Yet, instead of walking away, Eddie pocketed the letter and took a step forward, pushing up on his toes as he wrapped his arms around Richie’s neck to bring their lips together.
The kiss wasn’t deep or dirty or anything like that. No, it was soft, sweet and absolutely perfect. Eddie’s lips tasted like the cherry chapstick his mother made him use and they were both smiling into it so much they couldn’t really deepen the kiss. Slowly, Eddie pulled back and sat back down on his heels. “I’ll see you on the field afterschool. Don’t be late.”
Richie grinned, running hand through his hair as he nodded his head, “See you after school. I definitely won’t be late.” As Eddie walked away, Richie broke into a wide grin, punching the air just a little before clearing his throat and heading to class. He had finally scored the guy.

They Don’t Hold a Candle to You
Word Count: 900
Pairing: Demus
Warning: Blood mention, arson, dead bodies (it’s Remus, what are you expecting?), a bit of possessiveness, a little choking (I guess???), breakdown, crying, a tiny amount of making out but it’s not for long, Remus has tentacles
______________________________
Summary: Remus.
He saw Remus.
The side flitted across his vision and he looked closely to see Remus running, causing mass destruction and terror.
Deceit didn’t like what he saw.
Remus’ eyes held a true animosity to them.
He looked insane.
He looked disconnected from his humanity.
He was losing himself.
______________________________
Note: I swear to goodness, if I hear anyone say anything about unsympathetic light sides, I will smite someone. This is not my intention at all, you don’t have to agree with someone and their actions to coexist and show respect. Any opinions that Remus shows are all his own fears and insecurities, not because he was specifically singled out. Ok? Ok. Good.
______________________________
Deceit appeared back in the dark sides living room after another attempt at communicating with the others. Today had been especially exhausting and so it was finally good to be in the dark heated room again.
Without a word, he went upstairs, entering his room to grab something before heading towards Remus’ room. He felt an odd sort of feeling as he reached for the door but shrugged it off, opening the door as he closed his eyes.
Nothing. No pranks, nothing to startle him, gross him out, maybe make him need a change of clothes. It wasn’t uncommon for Remus to renact the prom scene from Carrie, it was quite common to be covered in blood upon going into his room. It was definitely Remus’ favorite prank by far. He stepped in and looked around. Absolutely nothing.
“Remus?”
He didn’t hear a response and went around to a couple different rooms, finding nothing. He then suddenly realized where Remus probably was as he walked to a plain door at the end of the hallway.
Despite its simple entrance, this was it.
The imagination.
If it’s anywhere for Remus to be, it’s here.
So with that thought, he opened the door, stepping inside. He felt blazing heat and looked up to see a burning medieval town. There were dead people everywhere. Usual Remus-like destruction after all, Deceit wouldn’t have expected anything less.
An earthquake shook the ground violently. Deceit tried to keep his balance but was thrown to the ground from the pure force.
That wasn’t a good sign.
Earthquakes happened when either of the Creativity twins weren’t stable. Roman’s lack of confidences caused frequent tremors and Deceit had been present to witness some of the worst.
This one was harder than he thought possible though. The only one here was Remus, he knew that.
Remus.
Deceit quickly rushed over and snapped his fingers, using a bit of energy to snap away the illusions. Everything froze in time around them, no breeze could be felt. The babbling of the nearby brook was silent as the water stilled.
Remus’ gaze snapped up and he locked eyes with Deceit. The animalistic look remained as he rushed over, quickly hugging Deceit close.
“Hello, what’s going on-?”
“You’re not leaving.”
“What?”
“You’re not leaving me, I won’t let you!” Remus growled out, holding on to Deceit tighter. Remus’ hands started to grip into the back of Deceit’s shirt as Deceit felt it harder to breathe due to the ever tightening hold on his body.
“Remus, calm down, nothing is going to happen!” Deceit coughed out quickly, feeling Remus stiffen up more as he gasped for air.
“You’re not leaving, you’re not, you can’t leave me for them,” Remus started to whimper, his grip loosening in resignation.
Deceit looked down at him, his eyes softening. He sunk down and appeared with Remus in his room. “Come here, lay down,” he coaxed gently, watching Remus sink into the sheets, tears running down his face in angry, heartbroken streaks.
Remus quickly moved to hold Deceit’s hand and without a word, Deceit pulled his hands away to remove his gloves. He then slipped his hands into Remus’. The latter started to poke and prod at the scales, a nice, simple distraction and Deceit smiled softly, stroking back the side’s messy hair.
“Love, why do you think I’ll leave you?”
“You’re going to, you’re going to leave me alone to rot like the disgusting thing I am..” Remus sniffled.
“And who told you that that’s how I see you?”
“No one.. But it’s true whether you say so or not! I’m too scary and gross and weird and everyone knows it but you!”
“Oh baby.. You know what I see?”
“A monster?”
Deceit frowned at that, the scales on his face subconsciously burning at the thought. The dark sides were intimidating and frightening to the others, not that it was their fault, but regardless, it still got under his skin sometimes. Remus never seemed to be bothered by it until now..
“Absolutely not. You have horrible hygiene and a demented sense of humor but you are not a monster. I will never see you as that. You choose to be like this because you enjoy it and you’re devilishly charming just the way you are,” Deceit hummed, cupping Remus’ cheeks.
“You’ve been spending a lot of time with them, what’s going to guarantee you won’t leave me for them?”
“Those stuffy pricks? They have no idea how to have fun like you do~” Deceit cooed, leaning in to kiss Remus. He smiled as Remus kissed back roughly, feeling a tongue move into his mouth. However Remus was quick to surprisingly soften the kiss, making Deceit moan out a little.
“Even if they don’t like you, I always will,” Deceit chuckled softly, kissing Remus’ cheek. He received a kiss on the nose as he felt tentacles wrap tenderly around his waist.
“I love you, Dee Dee~”
“I love you too~”

Me? Writing Demus? ... Yeah, I got nothing.
Hey guys, this is a new one for me! First Demus story I’ve ever posted, pretty much the first proper focus on them in a story! I have certain sensitivities to them and can’t always handle them so it’s on the more uncommon side that I make content of them.
I do not support unsympathetic light sides, capiche? I don’t want to hear anything about it.
Of course this story is me projecting, have you met me? Regardless, I hope you guys enjoyed it, feel free to let me know what you think in the comments!
P.S. Read the title again and let me know if you want to hit me for the pun lol

___________________________
November 9, almost midnight.
“Y/N ! FORGET DEAN ! RUN ! THEY’RE COMING ! RUN!”
My heart explodes in my chest and I lift my head.
Letting the phone fall in panic, I look up at Dean and he frowns.
"Run" he says.
From the floor I hear Aiden scream, someone just took his phone. Everything slows, it's like we were under water... I lower my head to look at the phone and the screams become chaotic before the call ends.
"Y/n, run" Dean begs now.
"Not without you" I state, taking his shoulder to help him up.
"No ! Y/n I'll slow you ! You run now !" his voice breaks.
Tears fill up his eyes when I don't move at all. "Please, go now... I love you, save your life..."
I don't answer, but tug at his shoulder with all my strength to make him get up. When he doesn't even try to help me, I take his face in my hands.
"We both go. Or we both stay" I state searching his eyes.
He hesitates a split second and gets up in a grunt.
I didn't take time to put my shoes, or my coat. The icy wind and snow is burning my skin, I feel it, but I'm not cold. I'm not tired I'm not hungry. There is no pain, no other thought than saving Dean.
It's the third time he falls in a growl of pain, his knees hitting the floor, his weight taking me with him. This time we can hear them, they're searching the cabin and it won't be long before our tracks lead them to us.
"Dean..." I try to encourage him but he fails getting up and I can see blood falling from his stomach, reddening the perfectly untouched snow.
"Please" he begs, strangled. "Run..."
"I'd rather die" I state with sobs held back in my chest. "Get up Dean, you can't give up now... You're tougher than that."
He tries to get up but, tugging on me, makes me fall again.
"Maybe this time I'm not" he whispers.
I take a deep breath and look up to catch sight of the sky for the last time. It’s beautiful. Then I let myself fall to sit next to him. So be it, I put a light kiss on his lips and taste the tears flooding his face. Powerlessness is unbearable for him, and I wish he could have died fighting… But like wolves, if he can’t run, he can’t live.
After a second, while I’m trying to accept the idea of letting them found us, he starts to move again. My eyes widen, how can he be so brave ? Leaning on a tree, he gets up and starts panting like crazy, his eyes roll in his skull for a second but his will his incredible. This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, the most courageous. I get up and take his waist, putting his arm back on my shoulders.
What happens next is so blurry. I can't really think, I have no energy for that : I just feel. I feel his arm weighting so heavy on me, the cold biting me, my heart racing so fast it hurts. I hear the echoes of the people who used to be my family, yelling in the woods to find us, to burn me... In my head I hear Aiden screams, but the loud painful breathing of Dean deaden it all.
Suddenly, I finally perceive the sounds of cars, and I take a deep freezing-lungs inhale.
"The road... Dean... The road" I say out of breath, finally taking time to check on him.
Blood is soaking his legs, his lips are so white he seems dead.
When we finally reach it, he falls, almost unconscious and I can see the splint broke along the way.
"Dean ? Dean !" I kneel next to him but a far blinding light catches my eyes : headlights.
I don't think twice : Jumping on the road with my arms in the air, I force the car to stop in a sharp braking.
The window opens a little and I try to talk, out of breath, while a middle age couple watches me, shocked.
"Please, I... My husband and I were in an accident, he's hurt and in hypothermia, he needs hospital now or he will die, please..."
They look at me, then at Dean, and the man steps out of the car.
"Thank you" I almost sob.
The man helps Dean up to lay him on the back seat. He's asking questions but I barely register them, answering mechanically : “Car accident… Emergency… His name is Dean… Please… Please… Please” I repeat.
The kind man checks on Dean and my love tries to mush him to reach me.
“Okay St Joseph hospital is ten minutes away, we will make it Sir” he assures Dean.
"Aiden's kids" I whisper suddenly.
"Lady, are you hurt ?" the man says while his wife keeps whispering oh-my-Gods watching my barely conscious lover on the backseat.
"No" I state. "Listen... Please, he needs help. I... I need to find someone, don't worry for me..."
"What ? Lady, no..." he tries but I close the door when I see Dean move.
"Just... Bring him to the hospital, he doesn't have much time."
"Y/n..." Dean whines.
"I love you Dean" I state through the window.
"What ?" his eyes widen but his body doesn't respond. "Y/n... No... No. No. No..."
"I'm sorry Dean. I love you" I repeat, and before my body crushes under the weight of my own pain, I start to run.
November 10, 1:27 am.
Aiden's house is empty, and silent. Entering his room, I find his phone on the floor and stains of blood on that awful carpet. Holding back a scream, I take a few steps back until my back hits the wall, and let my body slide down against it. I can't feel my feet, or my hands. I don't know if Dean is alive and the kids are nowhere to be found.
As despair tries to strangle me, I cling to my hate to function. I saved Dean, they won't get him, he escaped them... A held on crazy laugh escapes me.
Treason is the worst crime of all, and it has only one possible punishment : Death. Witches think justice has to be done the faster possible, to re-establish balance. So I know what happened here.
Aiden must be dead by now... I'm too late. I have to find his boys, they must be with their mom. Oh god, boys, sons of a traitor, their lives are going to be Hell. More than ever, I have to keep my promise to get them out of here.
This is all my fault.
There is no time to lose, but I have no idea how to find those two little boys. Ethan can run but I'll have to carry Jax, I have no idea how many people will be with them, or if they'll accept to follow me. But even if it's the last thing I do, I have to at least try. I owe Aiden this.
I'll start with Ophelia's house, maybe Aiden's wife went to her sister's. I get up and suddenly feel dizzy, something is wrong. I try to lean on the wall but my head is spinning faster and faster...
Before I faint, the last thing I see is Diana's face smiling at me.
November 10, 8pm.
I tug at my black dress and close my eyes. I just wish I could be sure Dean is safe, see his face one last time, hear his voice saying it's going to be okay, telling me it will be quick.
But I know it won't. Being burned alive...
This is the end. There is nothing left to save, nothing left to hope. But at least now, my mind is clear. No regrets or affection left for these monsters, I’m never calling those fanatics family ever again. Not after those so called trials. I was ready that they judge me, but the boys… Even their mother voted for banishment, their own mother. They erased their memories immediately, ignoring their sobs and calls for their mommy. Jax almost died in the process, and something broke in me. When they asked me why I betrayed them and where was Dean, all I could do was spit on Mam Griffin’s face… I’m not afraid anymore, for the first time of my life, they don’t impress me at all.
My hands shake and I smile through the tears, at least I knew love. And with the best. For a man like him, I guess I will be just a sore memory of the death of that pretty girl he liked, a witch version of a James Bond girls...
But for me, he was the only truth in my life.
My sister is brushing my hair in silence, I can see she's emotional, sad even, I guess getting her sister ready for the ritual of the stake mustn't be easy, I saw her look away when they sentenced the boys. However, she's good at it, like she is always good with everything she undertakes. Since the end of my ten minutes trial, she executes the steps with caution. It should be my mother preparing me, but I heard she wasn't feeling well. Wasn't feeling well...
Before being burned, witches must wear the dress of their own mourning. I read about it a lot, but never actually saw that before because they never burned anybody since World War two. The dress has to be black and has to never have been wore by anyone else. So, as I never wear fancy closes or dresses at all, they made me wear my prom outfit. I liked my prom dress. First, because I had managed to convince my mom not to buy something that didn’t looked like me at all, so it’s pretty simple. Second, because I ran away from the party to smoke pot with Aiden this night, so it’s a freedom memory.
I look down at the black fabric again and a small smile appears on the corner of my mouth : I actually look like a witch ; this will be the first time I'm actually treated like one. This is not me, nothing ever were real in here, only in that pretty cabin...
Another tear for the place I cherished so much. The place I ran to for weeks, with my heart pounding. The place where I learned what love was. They burned it... They searched it and burned it to the ground but I don't care, because Dean said Heaven was made of our best memories, so if Hell doesn't claim me, I'm going there again…
Tied to the stake, I look at their faces, ugly monsters. My mother is here, sobbing like she couldn’t stop what’s happening, but she never even tried to speak for me ; my sister too, focusing on being perfect as always, I pity her now, she never owned her life, and she never will. Diana is smiling, that murderous smirk on her evil face.
“Do you have something to say for yourself, traitor ?” Mam Griffin asks.
“Yeah…” I grunt. “I hope hunters find this place, and send you all to Hell.”
An offended rumble spreads and my mother faints.
Then mam Griffin recites the prayers and magically lights the wood.
I start sweating, and panic cuts my hair supply, I can already feel the heat and I can’t even imagine what pain I’m going to endure. The smoke veils the world, letting me alone with myself, I’m dizzy and the heat becomes unbearable. You’ll wake up in the cabin, Y/n… Soon…
“Y/N !” I hear Dean’s voice. “Y/N !”
I smile for myself between coughs, desperate tries of my body to breathe. I hear his voice now, this won’t be long…
But he appears through the smoke. Dean… He’s not hurt, he’s fully clothes and… Am I already dead ?
The smoke disappears and the flames die. When the crowd appears again, the community screams of hate and terror, everything. My eyes widen.
“D-dean ? H-how…”
“I’m here Y/n, I’m here, look at me…” he says, struggling to reach me on the pile of wood.
While he cuts the ropes holding me, I can’t stop staring at him. He’s all new, he’s strong and healthy, he may even have gained back his lost weight. I never saw him like this and tears wet my sweaty face.
“Here you go” he grunts when I fall in his arms. “It’s over, I’m here…” he takes my head to hold it against his chest.
“DEAN !” a manly voice calls him from behind, making Dean move.
He takes my legs and carries me like it was so easy. Dean carries me now… He starts to run and I cling to him, taking a fistful of that red flannel he wears.
A man in a trench coat is holding back almost all Coven powers all by himself, I guess it’s Castiel, Dean talked about him. A real life angel…
“Sam !” Dean calls and a tall man appears from between the threes with a gun in his bloody hands and starts to run, following us in the woods.
“Dean !” I call my lover’s attention. “I can run” I state, knowing we will be faster like that.
He puts me on the floor and takes my hand so tight it would hurt, if a complete happiness mixed with adrenaline wasn’t making me high. With the other hand, I hold my dress to run as fast as I can.
“Cas is not following !” Sam says, still running like a pack of werewolves were following us.
“He’s holding their spells back !” Dean answers loud and clear, with a voice I never heard.
Suddenly, Sam falls and Dean stops right away almost tearing my arm off. Sam is grunting and I can see burns appear on his face.
“Diana” I say. “Dean it’s Diana !”
From between trees, the witch appears and Dean hides me behind him protectively.
“How cute” she says with disgust on her vain face.
In a second, Dean lets himself fall on his knees and reaches his brother, with a snake-like movement, he catches Sam’s gun and shoots.
“This is for Y/n” he says.
I open my eyes, after having closed them just the instant the detonation echoed : she’s falling, a little red dot just between her eyebrows.
“Sammy you okay ?” Dean asks, taking my arm back to make me run again.
November 10, 10:42pm
“Hey, Y/n” Sam says, sitting next to me. “How are you ?”
I look up and stare at his face, there is something perfectly kind in his eyes, and I see some little things that reminds he’s Dean’s brother.
“I’m okay…” I state shyly. “Just worried about Dean.”
When we reached Sam’s car, Dean opened me the door, but he never said a word to me. He closed it and told something to Sam, and he left. Now I’m in that motel room with the tall hunter, but I don’t dare saying anything to him, the lump on my throat strangling me.
“He’s just bringing Cas back” he says with a kind smile, offering me a glass of water.
The motel room is dark, but I can perfectly see the burns on his face.
“I’m sorry about that” I say.
“Don’t be” he smiles sincerely, making the cutest dimples appear on his face. “They said Dean was dead…” he says, suddenly staring at his palms. “And, he would be… He didn’t tell me much, but he talked about how brave you were so… I just… wanted to thank you. For saving my brother.”
“He’s too pretty to die” I try to joke.
But a weird fear is creeping inside me : What if Dean and I weren’t so good now. I only knew him weak and when he needed me, now what ? He’s strong, he’s fierce. I don’t know his life, his friends…
While this doubts hit me in the guts, everything comes to the surface and I hear the little boys sobs, I see Aiden’s face when he made me swear to keep them safe, the smile he had when he asked me to marry him, my mother’s face smiling at me when I was a little girl, and her cold silence when I was sentenced to death…
Tears fall down on my face and Sam sighs.
“It’s okay…” he says as if he was used to people crumbling next to him.
Then the door bursts open and Dean enters, my Dean, only stronger. He doesn’t open his mouth, just angrily takes his coat of and Sam gets up to leave the room, joining Castiel I can see outside, as Dean didn’t close the door.
I just stay on that bed, trying not to cry too much, not daring to look at a man I feel like I don’t know now.
“Why did you left” he finally asks with a glacial tone that makes me shiver.
“The kids” I let out a sob.
“THE KIDS ?” he yells now, but when it makes me jump, his tone cools off. “I was going crazy, Y/n…” he snaps though his clenched teeth. “I thought they k- I- I thought they killed you !”
“I’m sorry” I whisper, holding back my tears.
“We could have gone back for them.”
“No Dean… It’s… It’s too late” I put my face in my hands and cry. “Th- They erased them… I… I was too late…”
“Sons of bitches…” he grunts. “Y/n… I’m sorry.”
He sits next to me and sighs deeply. I know this man, he’s the same man I rescued from the crashed car, the same hero, he’s Dean. And I love him.
After a while, he wraps his arm around my back and I dare to let my head fall on his shoulder, gripping the fabric of his flannel again. His smell is the same I knew, and the way his holds me too. His kisses my temple and let his lips rest there while I cry, shaken with sobs.
“We can’t stay here, they’re already looking for us” Dean states, stroking my back. “They are never gonna hurt you again baby...”

YES i caved n’ decided to pick up my boy and YES i’m trying ,,, to right a quick rundown and plotting post while yearning for the sweet release of sleep bc orientation sapped me of all my energy BUT !! i’m , , , so excited . to pick up leon . so excited . i love this man more than anything and i’m OVER THE MOON to pick him up so let’s get on with it before i repeat myself one more time !!
IN A CANON NUTSHELL : so leon is a character originating from resident evil 2 ; he’s considered one of the chief protagonists of the series , but not the first . in his first appearance he’s a rookie cop and his first day on the job , raccoon city is overrun by zombies ( infected humans rather than the undead , though ) and after that day . . . leon can’t do it & because of his heroism for dealing with the raccoon city debacle , he’s made into a government agent instead . in resident evil 4 , he’s tasked with rescuing ashley - the president’s daughter - and ends up uncovering & battling a cult known as the los illuminados as they have their own zombie virus known as the plaga . then . . . in resident evil 6 dude ends up actually . killing the president because of the president getting infected with a zombie virus . long story short , leon’s been through a shit ton of zombie apocalypses ( and other monsters the virus creates ) and he’s exhausted . he tries to go on a vacation and then chris redfield busts in like that dancing paul rudd gif so even THEN homie can’t catch a break . but he’s a very good dude & perhaps one of the most good-hearted , selfless people on the planet - it’s just sad because he started out with so much hope and after witnessing so much horror that hope fades and is replaced with exhaustion & even a bit of cynicism . but not enough as to where he turns into a person that won’t give you the shirt off his back because oh yeah , he is . he’s just maybe a bit more distant and doesn’t smile as much as he used to .
IN AN ALUCARD NUTSHELL : so leon is a former paramedic ( that sometimes still is called to do things ) turned hospital nurse - he was known for being the hero of the story multiple times in horrifying cases , and he’s overall gotten a pretty good reputation as a medic . however , the reason why he moved onto nursing was because the stress got too much for him for those dire situations after his divorce from his wife - miss cordelia chase . and now he’s just kind of trying to get through things but . things aren’t the best on his end even though he’ll try his best to power on through . he’s pretty okay but not great you know ??
BUT OOOOHHHH YOU WANNA PLOT WITH LEON SO BAD OOOOHHH
just to start off by saying idk if this list will be as long as misa’s bc it’s currently shortly after midnight and i’m getting more and more tired & incoherent as the clock just ticks away -
BUT ANYWAY . ppl who routinely come into the office / hospital he works at would be p cool and know him pretty well as a nurse from that . he doesn’t work in the ER most of the time ; though sometimes . he mainly is in the office doing stuff for checkups and all , clinical things . honestly tho it would be a bit of an interesting connection if sb went to the ER for embarrassing / stupid reasons ( party gone embarrassingly wrong , for example ) and leon’s the guy that has to help with it . just a Thought .
also coworkers !! idk if we have anyone from the medical field yet but there’s also that .
again he was married to cordelia so if ppl who know cordelia know him as cordelia’s ex-husband we can run w/ that and make smth out of that as well .
leon is also . kinda . lonely . like misa . can y’all see I Have A Type when it comes to muses AHHH - but anyways he spends a lot of his nights at bars and stuff so maybe some drinking/bar buddies he sticks with or the like . maybe waiters/bartenders who know him pretty well just from the fact he’s a regular , kinda know what’s going on with the dude .
like misa , neighbors . he’s not a spunk twenty-four year-old emo-fashioned mr. rogers like misa is but he’s a caring dude who looks out for them .
speaking of caring - maybe some ppl leon’s saved as a paramedic or in general just patients he treated for a while ?? i just . rly like the thought of leon caring for people on the job and then he finds them outside of it and he subtly cares for them off the job too . maybe even if it’s doing as much as sitting with them or comforting them when a loved one’s in the hospital or something . idk i just . like how much leon cares abt people .
okay so people from high school bc i lowkey headcanon leon wasn’t a troublemaker but he was more of a bad boy/rebel type just for the fact he had a tendency to do things that weren’t . by the rules . by the book . never mean or anything just maybe sometimes would hang out at abandoned buildings or late at night and now he’s significantly mellowed out and maybe that rebel is still somewhere inside of him but ur gonna have to dig it out a bit . and this could rly be anything too like friends , enemies , exes ( leon is bi u can pry that from my cold dead hands ) , etc . prom / homecoming dates , people who only knew him as a kid that got busted once for drinking alcohol in the back of somebody’s truck , etc . let’s have Fun with this .
also in general , just some good friends he’s always had ?? people who’ve known him for a long while and have still stuck with him .
exes !! whether it be pre-marriage or post-divorce . post-divorce i don’t think leon would rly stick in the relationship for long given he more than likely was not prepared at the time ( probably didn’t go past a few months , def some were just one-shot dates ) . again , he’s bi & capcom cannot take that away from me .
maybe a found family of sorts - leon . . . would be a great dad so maybe some younger folks he kinda dads over without meaning to .
AND AGAIN RLY . . . anything i’m sorry if this isn’t as detailed as misa’s bt IF I GET MORE IDEAS I SHALL ADD !!
this is long again i’m so sorry bt again react or like if ur interested in any of these connections !! imma retire 2 mobile n try to get some shut-eye .

Facing Your Fear
Characters: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, Reader (no pairing)
Word Count: 1,353
Warnings: mentions of rape (nothing too explicit), being indenial about being raped, angst
Request by @katherine097: Could you do a fic where Winchesters and the reader are super open with each other and they decide to play truth or dare and it's gone sexual. The reader is lying when they ask her when she lost her V card, but she's a teribble liar. Guys pressure her to say the truth, and it somehow comes out that she hates even thinking about it, because she was pressured, by a guy she bearly knew, to do it (and she did) and people tell her that it was rape, but she wont belive it? End it how u wanna😊 Love u❤
Summary: An innocent game of Truth or Dare turns dark, and you have to either face your fear or keep your past bottled up.
Beta: she wants to remain anonymous
Squares Filled: lucky at cars, unlucky in love for @as-the-saying-goes-bingo // force to face fear in @hc-bingo

Having a night in with your favorite people in the world is the best way to spend a Friday night. The Winchesters just came home from a long hunt, so they deserve a weekend where it’s just you three sitting in the war room and drinking the best alcohol Winchester money can buy. The night is still young, and you don’t want to go to bed just yet.
“How about we play truth or dare,” you grin after taking a swig from your bottle.
“I’m down,” Dean agrees.
“Yeah, okay. You go first, Y/N. It was your idea,” Sam grins.
“Okay, Dean, truth or dare?”
“Truth.”
“Pussy.”
“Hey, starting off easy,” he chuckles.
“Fine. Would you let others die around you before something bad happens to Baby?” you ask with a shit-eating grin.
Dean looks distraught at the question, and the pure fact that he has to think about this is an answer in and of itself. No matter what his answer is, you know it’s yes.
“No,” he finally answers.
“I thought you’re supposed to tell the truth. Isn’t that the rules?” Sam jokes and takes a drink from his bottle.
The game goes on like this—lighthearted, fun, and full of laughs. Not a lot of dates are taken place because it’s too fun to reveal everyone’s secrets. There’s a lot of shit buried that this little game is too happy to uncover. Shit that you never knew about the brothers.
You met them well after they were set in their ways. They actually saved you from a monster not that long ago. You had no family or friends, everyone in your life was either dead or dead to you, and you had nowhere to go. It was Sam’s idea to let you stay with them in the first place. Dean was a bit reserved about the ideas since you had no affiliation with the life they led. However, you proved yourself worthy when you knocked out three books in one hour.
They were gone on a hunt, and to pass the time, you thought it was a good idea to start reading the books they had. A lot of it was very interesting material, and once you picked up a book, you couldn’t put it down. They came home to stacks of books all around you. Sam asked if you had been reading all day, and you just said it was for a couple of hours.
Your reading speed has always been quick since your brain could process about 10,000 words a minute. It was something you’ve been proud of your whole life. Not only that, you remembered what you read even if it’s been years. That’s when the brothers knew having you around wasn't such a bad thing. It was fun living with two grown men because you never knew what each day was going to hold. They both had the mental capacity of a child sometimes, and it thrilled you to be a part of their daily lives.
When they weren’t on a hunt, you were hanging out with them. The game you’re playing now is just one of the few you loved to play. It passes the time like it's flying, especially when alcohol is involved. You’re having such a fun time that you don’t realize the topic of interest. It’s only when Sam asks Dean the question that your heart races from fear.
“At what age did you lose your virginity?” Sam asks with a shit-eating grin.
“14. No 15,” Dean changes his answer.
“Wait, you were that young?” you ask in surprise.
“Yeah. It happened with a senior girl in the science labs after hours. Awkwardest thing I’ve ever experienced, and I don’t even think she came. Had a lot of practice after that, so when we got to do it again, I was prepared,” he laughs.
“Oh my God,” Sam scoffs.
“Really, Sammy? You really want to go there? Tell her when you lost yours.”
“Fine, I will.”
You were really hoping that once Sam answers, they would both laugh and move on with the game. You really didn’t want to tell them how you lost your virginity, much less think about it. You’re not really sure what happened, but everyone else was glad to tell you. It’s the main reason why most of the people in your past life are dead to you. They told you something you clearly didn’t want to hear, and they weren’t especially nice about it.
“It was with Jessica, my college girlfriend.”
“That doesn’t seem so bad,” you shrug.
“Tell her the rest,” Dean smirks.
“I couldn’t…” he trails off and mumbles something you couldn’t quite hear.
“What?”
“He couldn’t get it up,” Dean puts it bluntly.
“Hey, at least I made her come,” Sam barks back.
“What about you, Y/N? When did you lose your virginity?” Dean changes the topic after glaring at his brother.
This is what you are afraid of. Maybe if you lie, then they’ll let it go, and you can move on with the game. Or go to bed—yeah, you like that idea better.
“I was also in high school when it happened,” you say. That’s the only truth you’ll tell of this story. “It was prom night, and my date had done everything right. He was my high school boyfriend, and he took me to dinner before we went. It was just perfect. We got to prom, and it was everything I had ever imagined. Some of the guys had brought alcohol, but we barely had anything to drink. It happened at the prom, you know.”
There, that’s all you’ll say about it. You’re about to get up to finally retire for the night when Dean spoke.
“You’re lying.”
“Dean,” Sam hisses.
“No, I’m not,” you say quickly.
“Yes, you are. You’re usually very blunt. You say things like it is. You never add a lot of detail like you going to dinner beforehand and all that mushy crap. Plus, you go defensive when I accused you of lying.”
Both brothers stared at you with questioning eyes, and you sit back down in defeat. Damn, you really have been living here for a long time. They haven’t known you for a long time, but it’s been long enough for Dean to know when you’re lying.
“Okay, fine, we were drinking a lot more than I let on. Well, he was. I may have been sober. He suggested we go upstairs, but all I wanted to do was hang with my friends. He convinced me otherwise. I didn’t plan on having my virginity taken that night. All I wanted to do was maybe make out, but he had other plans. We were both drunk, so it’s kind of my fault for not stopping it. It’s no big deal. Everyone does it in high school.”
Both Sam and Dean are staring at you with sympathetic eyes, and you know what they’re going to say next. It’s what everyone tells you when you tell them this story. However, what comes out of Sam’s mouth is so blunt that it slaps you in the face.
“Y/N, that’s called rape.”
“And you call me blunt,” Dean rolls his eyes at his brother.
“No, it wasn’t, Sam. We both had too much to drink. We didn’t know what we were doing.”
“Y/N, you just said you were sober.”
“I may have had a few drinks,” you shrug and change your story.
“Even still. He forced himself on—”
“That’s enough, Sam. He didn’t rape me, okay? He was my boyfriend. He loved me! He wouldn’t do that to me! You don’t know what you’re talking about because you weren’t there!”
You get up with a shake of your head. This isn’t happening right now. You’re done playing this game.
“It wasn’t rape.”
You finally say before storming to your room. As soon as you slammed the door, the tears threatened to fall. You wouldn’t let them fall through because what they are saying isn’t true.
If it was… well, you’re just not ready to face that fear.

Star Vs the Forces of Evil Reviews: The Blood Moon Ball (1-15)
Welcome back.. though to most of you probably just joining me, welcome. I’ve been on a sorta hiatus from revewiing due to a combination of procrastination, depression, and being really busy. But I finally decided it was time to put boots to the ground and get back to doing what I love: Going on way too long about children’s television. As such, with She Ra taking a bow a few weeks back and nailing it I got to thinking about another show that just so happened to end the year before: Star Vs the Forces of Evil. Part of it was very simple: She ra ended on a trriumphant note, making a well set up romance that had been it’s backbone canon, having a wonderful final battle, tons of payoff and a throughly happy ending that satisfied all involved and got tons of well earned coverage for having a deep, meaningful relationship between two lesbians finally coming together being the thing that saves the universe. It was freaking great. Meanwhile a year prior Star Vs, after having been treated like toilet dinner by disney for no good reason by having it’s final season shoved out over a few sundays after a yearlong hiatus.. ended not with a bang, but with a wah wah trumpet. The series ending was unsatisfying, left more questions than answers, had the title character loose all likeablity and was in general miserable. I hadn’t been this pissed off at a finale since How I Met Your Mother and hadn’t seen a romance botched this badly in animation since “Merry Christmas Mordecai”. It was BADDDDD. However it did make me want to go back to the series; To revisit the good, the bad and the just plain weird to remember what made me love the series, what made me want to throw my tv into a river before reminding myself “No dude, shit’s expensive. “, and what COULD have been, what SHOULD have been and what WASN’T. So i’ll be reviewing assorted episodes.. and the best place to start for me was with the introduction of one of the series best characters, as well as at the same time the start of a ship that was a good idea at first but would slowly take the series down with it as it started to fall apart. This is Blood Moon Ball. There will be blood, and a dead horse, after the cut.
Before we get into the episode, one of the series most notable and honestly a damn good one, for those 2 of you not familiar with the series a quick refresher: Star VS is the story of Star Butterfly, a rebelious 14 year old princess from the Kingdom of Mewni. Mewni is your standard medievil fantasy kingdom.. but you know with wifi because they have magic compacts that work as phones and large sale acess to the multiverse. Their also ruled over by a long sucession of queens with great and terrible magic power, which is channeld through an increidbly powerful wand that’s passed down from generation to generation. On her 14th birthday Star gets her turn with the wand.. and not long after sets everything on fire. Not wanting the kingdom to get blown up while Star figures out thing, her parents send her to Earth, and after bribing the school principal into enroling her, that’s not a joke on my part but an actual joke from the pilot, Star soon becomes an exchange student, boarding with the Diazes and soon becoming best friends with their teenage son Marco, a saftey obessed, shy talented martial artist. The two are frequently forced to beat up the hordes of Ludo, a spoiled monster king who wants the wand for himself. Things would get way darker... like in literally two seconds as the revelation star’s people stole mewni from the monsters and Star’s hatred being revealed to be partly racisim instead of standard hero and villian stuff. But that’s for future reviews. Today we have demons, internet commentors and ship tease to get to. So with the basic premise set up let’s finally get on with it. We open on the arrival of my boy and yours, hopefully, Tom Lucitor. Tom is the prince of the underworld, basically exactly what it sounds like: fire, brimstone, demons spooky scary skeltons sending shivers up your spine. He’s also Star’s ex boyfriend. How they broke up is.. never really explained. While more details about their relationship, includign the fact Tom bought Star her iconic Devil Horn headband on their frist date, were revealed in the tie-in spellbook, and reveals that star’s arson that got her sent to mewni happened right after her and tom broke up, but never explains WHY. My guess is since the series clearly frames the breakup as Tom’s fault in this episode and on his anger, they probably didn’t want a scene of him screaming his head off at star, either to keep him sympathetic or , more likely, because a scene of a teenage girl watching her boyfriend having a rage fueld breakdown that leads to htem breaking up would be MASSIVELY uncomfortable to watch and unlike some uncomfortable to watch scenes, wouldn’t tell us anything we didn’t know already. So unlike some later things they never pulled the trigger on this one at least makes sense. Anywho, Tom arrives, parking in the handicap spot (a nice little gag as Star’s crush at the time Oskar points it out, while the dead skeletal horse pulling tom’s carriage turns around to look at him), and all the girls stop and stare.. including Janna, who would probably regret this moment once she realize tom was a bad boy because he’s socially awkard and has anger issues. Basically he’s Kylo Ren but his redemption dosen’t come straight out of JJ Abrhams ass. Tom arrives at Star’s classroom, removes his shade and damn if he dosen’t have game.. but naturally showing up unnannaounced to her school (Not that TOm probably gets what school is as Mewni dosen’t have those, but still), basically assuming she’ll go out with him, after they had a messy breakup it dosen’t go well and we get a great cut of Star shoving tom back into his carriage.. we also get the best joke of the episode. Star: So take your invitation and your fire and your dead horse and go. Dead Horse: wait.. i’m dead? Sad but hilarious. Anyways it’s quickly conved to viewers like us that Tom has anger problems, but he insists to star he’s doing better: he has an anger managment counsler he takes with him places, Brian, voiced by the wonderful and weirdly in Disney’s pocket these days Stephen Root, and a bunny he pets. Before star can pet said bunny Marco , KARATE CHOPS TOM’S HAND OFF.. I just.. until this review I hadn’t sat back to consider just how freakishly strong that boy is , that he can just accidently chop off a hand. I mean tom may have weak joints or something but even after taking far worse blows later on his hands just.. don’t come off. Tom flies itnto a rage and it becomes clear that yeah, whatever happened, it was tom’s fault, and given the kind of rage she flies into, you can see why i’d assume the writers really didn’t want the audience to see him at his worst. I certainly don’t. Star both worried and clearly having seen this sort of thing go bad before urges Marco to run but tom quickly recovers, both reuniting with his hand and having calmed down, and he and Marco are formally introduced, with star explaning the invite. We also get a great line with marco encouraging her “Star never go with a preadator to a second location”. This show was damn good at getting shit past the radar and i’m here for it. Anyways, Star isn’t quite sold despite tom clearly TRYING to get better, and Tom , in a really nice move, gives her a bell and tiny hammer to summon his carriage with if she decides to go but leaves it up to her, not pressuring her or anything. For how selfish tom is initially.. this is a spark that shows h’es not a TERRIBLE person, just one who has some growing up to do. Marco however is not convinced and wants to go with, with Star teling him no because A) he wasn’t invited and it’d be rude to ask and B), she appricates the concerns but she can handle this, and implicily, despite her reckless nature knows this is a risk but knows if the night turns she can handle Tom, and that maybe he’s changed. Marco insists Tom can’t change.. which I find hilarious given his massive character arc to the point I had as eires ofessays planned, and one don about his growth before deciding to change formats to doing each ep of his journey instead every so often, to the point where two years on in the series timeline.. we’ve gone from Marco thinking Tom is a predator to...

But star decides to go and .. it’s clear from the subtext that while part of it is clear concern for star, Marco’s line about “it being fun here all the time” may mean that while he DOES have the best intentions.. part of him is jealousssssss. More on that in a bit. For now we go to the underworld with the second best gag of the episode as Tom is toning down the spookiness to please star, and one of the guys in the picture at the top insults him... and when tom asks which one he says me. We sadly don’t get an answer but it’s small gags like this that made me want to do this episode by episode. Star arrives.. and things quickly go south. Tom tries giving her a corsage that’s a live spider and she rejects it. This admitely looks bad on both as Tom , living in you know, a hell dimenson probably sees it as a sweet gesture, and Star is refusing it.. but star does so POLITELY, and for understandable reasons, and Tom is still clearly pissed about it. Not long after, they line up for what’s essentially a prom photo.. and to get Carried by a bucket of unicorn blood, another nice little gag. Star refuses since well her best friend is a unicorn, one of them anyway, or at least it’s head.. and yes one of the species in this series multiverse is a bunch of headless unicorns. IT’s wonderful. And star also notices tom needs his anger managment bunny and is clearly pissed about it when, having dated her for several months, clearly should’ve KNOWN this might bother her. That’s really tom’s problem here: He wants everything his way on his terms and only compromises if he thinks it’ll get star to do things with him. He’s made the PRETENSE of changing.. but he really dosen’t WANT to yet. He just wants her back and wants to change just enough to get her back so he can stop trying again. He also may , due to the underworld being diffrent and a place where being covered in a bucket of blood is a time honored tradition instead of the thing that turns a young mutant into a mass murderer, and yes I think a carrie x-men crossover would be the shit. He probably dosen’t GET that star wouldn’t like a spider corasge or bathing in her best friends blood.. but the problem isn’t that. that’s culture shock, that can be bridged with some talk.. the problem is tom dosen’t want to talk, he just wants her to do what he wants and things to be all cool and to get his way. Being a prince with two loving parents, we’ll meet them soon enough just not this episode, and tons of servants, I get the impressionf rom this and other episodes tom simply isn’t USED to not getting what he wants. He’s not USED to being told “No”, and thus has no way to deal with it healthily and isntead lashes out like an angry toddler. It dosen’t make his actions RIGHT but it does make them more understandable and makes it so Tom’s later growth FEELS natural depsite some of his sketchier actions beforehand.
Back at Marco’s house, Marco is depressed eating nachos in a sumbrero.. which if I had corn chips, cheese and a sombrero would probably be my daily life right about now. It’s then we get a WEIRD dropped bit, as Marco hears a weird piratey voice telling him the blood moon is the moon for lovers and stuff. This is IMPLIED to be his monster arm, from an earlier episode.. but it’s.. never explained. Whatever it was going to be was dropped. Which would be fine if the blood moon itself and the end of this episode didn’t get a full explination in season 4 with the writers clearly going back to it to resolve the dangling thread.. but still not explaning the spooky voice. I mean what was it? Marco’s pirate ancestor? the sea captain from the simpsons? the monster arm? terry that bastard? Burt Macklin FBI? Old Man Withers the guy who runs the amusment park? Dirk Dastardely? A sentient payphone? The alps? Tell us damn you! Okay that tangent aside Marco decides to party crash at the advice of the ominous voice.. seriously is it Flintheart Glomgold? Nevermind. Back at the ball star is bonding with a small skeletal fish int he magma punch whent his random asshole comes up and whines for a good minute,if hilariously so, about the ball being changed.
He’s feels, looks and acts like the combination of those morons who were mad adora wasn’t “as hot” in the she ra reboot and was aged down to a teenager and the threw it on the ground guy. After that interlude, tom shoos away a guy asking star to dance and the guy makes vauge comments about tom wanting his and star’s souls to be link while making kissy nosies. Before Tom can explain what he means by that, or at least lie about what he means by that, the blood moon is about the drop, the lights turn red and tom walks off because he wants the music to be perfect. And then Marco arrives in his really damn cool calevara outfit. Which fair play, I can see why, besides ship reasons, it gets a lot of art: it looks really damn neat. Speaking of shipping.. it’s time. Star, not realizing it’s marco, dances with him.. quite romantically in fact. It’s here that the show conciously starts Shipping star and marco together. Starco is born, and the scnee is really good: romantic, well animated, jsut great all around. While the ship would .. end up done rather poorly and lead to some really terrible stuff at the time.. it wasn’t abd and already shipping them I loved this and even now, even knowing what woudl come later... it’s not a bad sequence. The only bad thing is what would come later, but I can’t fault the writers of THIS EP for what they would do in a LATER ONE. That’s just not fair. The ship wasn’t bad to start and the later arc springing from it in season 2 would be good.. it just quickly went in bad directions as the series went on , then disappeared, then how it finallyc ame about was just awful. But as much as I want to.. I can’t blame the sequence on this. It didn’t create rabid shippers or poor writing, it was just good and deserves to be praised as such. Naturally tom takes this about as well as me when I found out HBO max wouldn’t be on roku at launch and prepares to murder Marco.. and promptly gets frozen by star who decides to wisely get out of there. It’s a ncie moment.. and reminder that Star is crazy powerful, as is the wand itself, because as we’ll see later, tom is no slouch himself in the power department, but even if her attack was from behind, she still stopped him in one move. So Star takes marco home and dresses him down for sneaking in, understandbly so: while it was an iffy situation, Star knew who she was dealing with and as shown at the end, was strong enough that tom was no threat to her, and given what we learn later, Tom’s parents would likely never let her come to real harm. For all her reckless decision making, Star thought this one out and Marco shoudl’ve repsectied that and didn’t for his own reasons. To his credit though he apologizes, Star admits to liking the dance, then the two speak in unison a few times, and we wont’ get followup on that till the last season! Roll credits. I don’t have the credits for this episode so enjoy this instead:

Final Thoughts: Blood Moon Ball is a spectacular ep. A good plot, a great introduction for tom, and great animation and humor really make the episode pop and it’s nice to get our first look at the underworld and tom himself. Tom would be back, and i’ll be back to tom eventually, but on it’s own the episode is really good and it’s standout sequence still holds up even as starco ended up in the sewer quality wise. All in all a great ep and a great starting point if you haven’t watched the show yet. Coming Soon: A return to Star in the near future probably since Tom is great and his second ep deserves love too, as do several other star eps, as well as a look at the saluna episodes of the loud house because i’m in a gay mood for obvious reasons, and a loud house mood for less obvious reasons. Until then, feel free to hit me up with asks with suggestions or commisosns for future reviews, and until next time, later days.
